Gentlemen and Ladies:
The 2020 Alaska Double Rifle Shoot is on! The Birchwood range is reserved for Saturday, May 2.
A few locals, including myself will arrive at 8:30 to begin setup and the shooting begins at 10am.
Lunch break will be noon to 1, and shooting will resume to 3.
This year the range fee will $300 and I would like ask those in attendance to contribute $10 to this cost. Any overpayment will be handed to the provider of lunch for their expenses. The reason for the higher fee is Birchwood will provide a range safety officer ($100). This is due to 2019 violations of no safety glasses and/or hearing protection. Apparently we (I) did not self enforce the rules.
Over the years I notice less and less double rifles and more bolt rifle. This is fine as it’s just fun day. But I would encourage as many of you as possible to bring a double(s) to keep with the intent and spirit of the shoot.
I will have at least two newly acquired doubles: a 12-bore Rodda and a 4-bore Rodda. In addition I will bring a .500 and .577 black powder express doubles, a .450-400, .450 no2, and .600 nitro doubles, and the 12, 4, and 8-bore doubles. In addition, perhaps a .577 howdah pistol. I’m selling a number of my doubles and some are on lay a way; those I will keep home.
In keeping with the tradition, everyone is welcome to shoot whatever double(s) you wish and we don’t charge for ammunition. However, Please ask the owner before you handle and load any firearm.
If there is any interest in a “for sale” table let me know. Let’s keep it to doubles and related items for private sales.
Please RSVP to my email so I can plan attendance and food required. I recall,10 replied last year. <pappas@mtaonline.net>
Cheers, all and I’ll remind everyone in early April; again on the forum and via email for those that I have an address. Looking forward to another fun shoot with fine gentlemen.

PS. The two rooms in my home are already spoken for and reserved.
