Please post what you consider a significant event in the year 2024. personal, politics, Hunting , etc. I’ll post one of many that come mind to kick the discussion off.

There have been teams searching for decades to document exactly what happened to this team from the heyday of the British empire

After 16 years of oppression, we finally overthrew the Indian bootlicking government in Bangladesh on the 5th of August. And the most ironic thing is that college kids did what we grown men couldn’t do.
@Hunter-Habib Congratulations to you on the newly found freedom for your country; when I saw the news reports I thought of you.

As for me, my 2024 event is purely self indulgent; July 2024 I made my first trip to Africa and my first African animal ever was a tuskless with a double rifle in Zimbabwe.

2024 was a good one. Aside from Africa, I'm drawing a blank on anything especially crazy.
First trip to Africa - 10 days in SA with my wife at Frontier Safaris.
Many shorter trips, traveling the US.
Welcomed another nephew to the fold.

Got both my elephant and rhino for my big 5 goal

Internationally, Ukraine invading an area in Russia. I think this will be very significant when it comes to negotiating the end of the war. This was a master stroke and it will be interesting to read about who came up with the idea and how, in the future.

Nationally, Joe Biden withdrawing from his reelection bid. This almost never happens and was big news.

In Colorado, the issues following and surrounding the reintroductions of wolves and witnessing the employees of the CPW trying to deal with upset ranchers, a Governor that the rank and file do not care for and the DEI infused, anti-hunting Wildlife Commissioners appointed by him. What a shit show and it’s only going to get worse. Colorado has more human population than WY, MT and ID combined. It will continue to be a train wreck.

Personally, recovering completely in 2024 from two major 2023 tibia surgeries in time to guide Spring 2024 brown bear hunts and all my fall hunts. Also, taking my parents to Italy for two weeks for my mother’s dream trip.

Hunting related, getting my Tanzania lion imported into the USA.

Hunting related: I was able to get two more of the Dangerous 7. I darted Rhino and took a really nice Croc. That leaves me only Leopard and Elephant which I hope to do in 2027 now. I had it planned for 2026 but moved out a year.

Personally: The first half of the year went great. No health issues and all was going well till after the safari.
After returning health issues arose. Major leg infection put me in hospital for 2 weeks. A heart issue happened. And then a surgery first of November.

As of now all well and looking for a great 2025.

Economy was shaky in our area until elections and now on rebound.
Work related not sure what will happen later in 2025 early 2026. Highway expansion is happening and may take shop.

Hope everyone has a great 2025!

I was already loving hunting in Africa, and now thanks to a love potion I recently tried I'm deeply and madly in love with Africa. Unfortunately I lack the funds to satisfy this insatiable appetite for hunting that I now have but I think I'm in luck! Recently I saw a post on here advertising somebody who can help me recover crypto! I haven't ever had any crypto, but if it's recoverable and it means I can go to Africa, I'm all in.

2024 was a good year in several regards. The best was on Friday the 13th in September, when my daughter married her long time boyfriend. She’s an easy kid to be very proud of, as she is a pediatric ICU nurse. Now maybe I’ll get a grandson (fingers crossed).

Hunting-wise I was able to realize a long held goal when I took a grand, old Lord Derby Eland bull on February 11th.

After those two events 2024 was a fantastic year.

My return to Africa with Derian Koekemoer Safaris after a 27 year hiatus. Shot Cape buffalo cow, kudu, Impala and warthog. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Africa is still a magical place! It’s definitely reignited a fire for African hunting again. Will return with brother and nephew in 2026 for trophy buffalo, crocodile and hyena. Also obtained 5 more large bore African rifles thanks to this site! Learned quite a bit from the very generous and knowledgeable AH members, very grateful for their help and contributions.

The biggest and most important event on 2024 has to be the general rejection of Woke Liberal Politics by the American people!

Hunting wise I finally took a beautiful Sharps Greysbok and red duiker as well a civit after several attempts over many years. And a bonus side striped jackal!

Got to see my beautiful wife take a huge old dark Giraffe that she has had on her wish list as well as a Tsessebe and really great Bushbuck, after her declaration that she would never hunt a Bushbuck;) This one was an animal of opportunity :)

And almost as much fun as being with @Just Gina on the hunt was to help her get her father to Africa for his first Safari. We also got to share our first visits to Victoria Falls (a must do for anyone getting close to that area on a hunt!)

Business wise we made a huge move merging our dairy, beef, crop farms together in order to further leverage our size, scale and people! This also created an opportunity for me to scale back slightly as I try to work towards retirement. It has been quite a year with goals attained and surpassed. Not only undertaking a doubling of our SD operation, but adding a second feedlot and 10th dairy as we unexpectedly had further opportunities presented in Kansas.

Personally we are closing in on finalizing renovation of our new to us Texas home and getting things moved from Minnesota as we complete our personal exodus from the Communist Dictatorship of Minnesota. Alas these will not be completed in 2024. However we have made significant progress:)

My Tanzania lion is mounted and here in the house with us! AND we got the full mount rhino moved in just 3 days ago! Gina's leopard is still at the taxidermist but all our Tanzania trophies are tanned and ready to be mounted here in the States.

Most significant: birth of my second daughter

Hunting related: first hunt in Africa with my brother

On the world stage: worldwide rejection of leftist woke policies, culminating in Trump’s election.

On the geopolitical front, the next year looks brighter at its start than has been the case for the last few year ends.

And now very blessed, spending time with family and friends in (the start of) the Alps, with fifty cm of snowfall, seeing my oldest enjoy snow for the first time.

@Hunter-Habib
We never even heard about that in Australia.

At my age 2024 and any other year I get thru is a great year.
2024 was basically a non hunting year as my wife and I did a three month round Australia trip in prime hunting season. Not complaining as it was a great trip that I enjoyed very much.
My daughter gave me a grand son in February after years of trying. Very happy for her.

2025 hoping to make up for the hunting I missed last year and my wife and I are planning a trip to the lower USA. Possibly Dallas, Louisiana, Virginia to catch up with some AH members. Then off the Ireland, Scotland, England and Italy then home via Singapore. Planning this trip in the fall in the North. Our spring.
Hopefully they will let me into the USA, we will see.
Bob

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
