Hi all I'm looking at purchasing a 375. Cabelas has a browning bolt action in that caliber. It's in there gun library. I didn't see the model but it looked nice with engraving and such. Do you think $1800 is too much?

I should of looked more into it but just stopped there for a few minutes on the way home from work

X-bolts can be had new in .375 H&H for $825 to $1025 depending on the model (hunter, medallion, stalker)..

Unless its something special.. $1800 seems pretty steep to me..

I know it's not an x bolt, I'll have to go back and check into it, thanks for your info @mdwest

It's behind glass, and this cabelas only puts there best behind glass

At that price it is most likely a Belgium Safari, in fine condition the price is not out of line. There is one in Lacey, WA gun library that looks to be in very good condition. The description says there is some light spiderwebing, I've always admired the Belgium Safari, especially ones that have been refinished with a hand rubbed oil finish, when I pick one up, the gloss will go.
Good luck,
Cody

This one looked sweet, I wish I had more time to check it out, but I will soon, hope it don't get sold before I get back

My uncle has a Belgium safari in 7mm looks similar

I've bought several used rifles from Cabelas and found they were always open to an offer

You can look "Library Guns" up online, and perhaps get some more info, if the guys working the Library are not busy they might be able to get the gun out and while looking over it answer any questions you may have. I did exactly that while looking for a specific firearm several months back. Good Luck!!

Does your purchase have to be a browning?

For just a bit more you could get a Winchester M70 Safari and top it with some decent glass. Engraving doesn't make the gun kill game any better... I would vote for a CRF Winchester over a push feed Browning, but that's just me. Good luck with whatever you choose. You can't go wrong with the old H&H.

For that much I'd want to know the details as has already been discussed. I'd also want to handle the rifle to see how it fits and feels. What would make me a little nervous is how it feeds/extracts. Since it is a used rifle Cabelas likely won't want to stand behind it. But if you get more serious about buying, perhaps that can be a condition for sale you can write into the deal? They certainly won't want you loading live ammo in the store. But maybe using factory ammo you make a video while shooting and cycling rounds. If there's any hangup there, then no deal and you get your money back.

Agree with Bullthrower, a Browning Belgium Safari is a different animal and worth more. Depending on when it was built, it may have a CRF Mauser action. Sometime later they used Sako medium actions on some calibers. These were push feed medium actions to my knowledge.. I have a push feed Winchester from 1973 and it has never failed to feed or eject during the 43 years I have owned it. But I agree, get rid of the glossy finish and go to oil rub if you buy one.

Check for salt wood, certain Browgnings had a serious issue with salt wood....value goes South if it falls into that category.

+1 Great to deal with. I purchased custom rifle. No issues.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
