4457 on a suppressor CBP problem Atlanta

I went to update my 4457's and they came out and told me that they couldn't do it on a suppressor ?
They talked to their supervisor by phone and were told it was a commerce form they needed. I told them that I had the tax stamp and my old 4457 that was done at the same facility. They were again told they could not do it?
The guy even said "we do laptops, cameras and everything else. Even he didn't understand. I was told to come back on Monday. Oh bother ..

I'm pretty sure it's been alluded to on here that folks just using a 4457 for a supressor have been getting lucky and there is more paperwork involved. I wasnt the one who posted it so dont know what the specifics are but this is why im just taking ear pro instead.

NFA items require Permissions from State Department. They are not treated the same as firearms. If you got it out of country and back again consider before yourself lucky.
