I lost every bit of data that I kept re loading so I wonder if some one could give me a load detail for 285 grain Norma Alaska ...yes 285 grains is correct. for the 9.3 x 64 mm

Using AR 2209 which is h4350 equivalent. I have an opened bottle that`s to be used.
Just a couple of starter loads,my mate that does the quickload isn't about at this time to help.

Thank you.

My box of Lapua bullets says 18.5 gram/285 grains. 18.5 grams is, more accurately, 285.49867 grains so rounding it off either way is close enough for me.

According to Cartridges of the World 14th Edition:
286 SP IMR 4350 76.0 grains 2725 fps Data Source: RWS

Reducing the IMR 4350 load by a few grains would probably be a good place to start. I would suggest a magnum primer.

Cheers,
Walt

Thanks Walt,

One thing is that I do remember reading where standard NON magnum rifle primers are actually the right way to go.
Believe me that I do not know any of the answers,I am just collating info that I have had past me.

I just recalled that the Nosler Reloading Guide 8 has data for the 9.3x64.
The following used RWS cases, Rem. 9 1/2M primers in a 25" barrel.
IMR 4350-76.0 gn @ 2690 fps (max)
74.0 gn @ 2621 fps
72.0 gn @ 2551 fps (most accurate with this powder)
Reloder 15-66.0 gn @ 2601 fps (max)
64.0 gn @ 2526 fps (most accurate load tested)
IMR 4895-63.0 gn @ 2564 fps (max)
Viht N140-64.0 gn @ 2554 fps (max)

Cheers,
Walt

Thank you members for those replies/loads. Much appreciated.
I might dump the 2209 and head for the RL15 as a mate insists its the ducks nuts.
He will have his say as he is the reloader.I don`t trust myself!

i tried re 15 in mine and found it to peak out quite suddenly.
2209 was a better powder with 286 gn and heavier bullets, giving higher velocities at lower pressures.
with tha 285/6? gn barnesx the bullet was too long, taking up much needed powder space with 2209.
2209 offers excellent loading density, around 100% +/-.
have just gone up to 73 gns 2209 with fed 215 primers and swift 300 gn bullets, and repriming the cases felt just like priming new ones.
have been up to 75 gns 2209 with 286 nosler partition.
this load might have proved that the partition is yesterday's bullet when it blew the nose off on a donkey's shoulder blade, and deflected the base part on about a 30 degree angle from line of flight.
i am happy to get 2500 fps from a 300 gn bullet as a max, and 2550 from 285/6 gn bullets.
the case can drive them faster, but to what gain?
mechanical reliability is second only to safety in this game.
bruce.

Members, please be so kind as to provide me with South African powder re-loading data for another forum member...naturally he will commence on the lowest loads to ensure safety is not compromised..

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
