Over the last few years it has become more difficult to ship firearms. Now shipping gun parts is tough also. I use to ship mainly UPS. My local UPS facility got rid of their customer walk in delivery desk so you are forced to use a UPS store. I didn't think it would be a big deal as I was shipping a barrel blank to a smith for some work. When I was asked what was in it I was honest of course and the workers reacted as if I was holding a live bomb! I explained it is not a Rifle or gun at all just a barrel....not even a barrel that could be attached yet as it is a blank that is not chambered or threaded even. The manager said "government rule you can't ship gun parts...Homeland Security!" I called BS and showed them that the barrel was shipped to me from a vendor using UPS. They had nothing to say.
I could have easily said its a stainless steel machine part or a hydraulic cylinder or something but then if insurance claim they turn you down. I have lost too many packages in the last few years.
I went to the Post Office and they shipped my package and only asked the standard is it hazardous questions. The point her is the rules are being changed to enforce an agenda some are in fact government influence and insiders at FedEx and UPS have told me they are being influenced by the government to stop the firearms shipping as a way of gun control.
To add to the controversy, I have been in Law Enforcement for 30 years and was in full uniform when the 20 something manager told me the government would not allow me to ship the barrel. I asked her for the specific law and of course she stared with a blank look.
I have not tried to ship ammo in a few months but I suspect I will have to have a friend with an FFL ship it for me. It may be because I don't have a local walk in that is not the UPS Store but I assume others are seeing this too. FedEx will not let you go in with items any longer you have to have the account and labeled prior to going in.
Are you all seeing this elsewhere in the US too or is just my local lefties controlling my neck of the woods.

I can't ship any thing related to a gun, gun parts or ammunition or brass at my local UPS Store anymore. I have to drive about 30 minutes to an official UPS Distribution Center Store and they will take guns & ammunition if labeled correctly.

I ran into the same thing at my UPS Store when I was returning some defective (over pressure) ammo to Nosler. They saw the black and white triangle marking and refused it.

I had to turn around and drop it off at the UPS depot who had no problems with it.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
