Arno Bernard Knives
are crafted in Africa and place a little bit of adventure in your hand every time you hold one. Their father, who has been making custom knives for decades, taught the four sons the proper way to craft a knife and each one of them has mastered a key part of the process that produces their exceptional creations.

  • Arno Sr. is in charge of R&D-both new handle materials and blade steel.
  • Arno Jr. is the CEO and is in charge of product development and is the inspiration behind many of the new designs.
  • Franco is in charge of the grinding team and product testing.
  • Juan handles the cutting, shaping and buffing of the handles.
  • Ruan is responsible for scheduling the shop and operations.
  • Each one of the brothers is adept at sewing the heavy leather sheaths as that was the first job their father allowed them to do and each of them has sewn thousands of sheaths.
They seamlessly combine state-of-the-art technology and hand finishing producing high-quality knives that showcase custom features at a surprisingly affordable price. For example, they use Haas CNC machines to cut the knife blanks but every bevel is hand-ground by Franco. The steel of a knife is the heart of it and they use Bohler N690 stainless steel that is heat treated and tempered to a Rockwell Hardness of 59-60 which produces a knife that holds a great edge but is easy to sharpen. This high quality steel is presented with a wide range of exotic handle materials that really sets the knives apart. You can choose from Mammoth molar, Warthog tusk or Giraffe shin bone.

Their commitment to excellence is evident in everything they do; hand applying the hollow ground edge using a timeless process that dates back to the first edged weapons, the manual buffing of the handle materials, the hand-sewing of the sheaths and the way all of the various components are blended together to produce a knife with soul is evident the first time you hold one in your hands. In this era of mass production it is rare to find a knife that has dozens of different sets of fingerprints on it before it is completed and shipped to you. Experience the quality and attention to detail that makes every Arno Bernard knife an heirloom in the making!

Sword Canes

If you are looking for something really out of the ordinary, we also offer Sword Canes. The Sword Cane is approximately 36" long, features an exceptional fit and finish, and has a concealed "trigger mechanism" that you simply pull towards you to unsheathe the blade. A circular, matching exotic wood spacer conceals the trigger. The spacer is consistent with the other design elements, so only you will know it is there. The three edged, 6" long stainless steel circular push dagger on the sword cane has a razor sharp tip. The handle is a hand polished, trophy sized warthog tusk that flows into the shaft for a flawless and attractive transition. The tusk has a shallow, flat cut made along one side. This flat surface is scrimshawed with a very detailed image depicting all of the African "Big Five". The shaft features a very beautiful and substantial piece of exotic African wood that darkens with age.
