I Have lusted owning another 338Win since I had to sell mine to pay some Covid bills.I was doing my usual scrounging and came across this Winchester CRF Stainless Steel Turd on GB from a dealer in Iron Mtn Mich. After buying the Rifle I took the rifle to the range and while the recoil is pretty stout it shot great
I couldn't figure out what kind of a finish was put on the barrel and reciever but it looked nasty and had to go. I already had a wood stock that I got from a member of this website that I refinished that dropped right in and then it went to Jim Kobe here in Minnesota to take care of the rest. Jim added a rear sight, fixed a sticky safety did a trigger job then a nice semi gloss Cerakoat was added. The end result is not only a Great Shooter but also a Great Looker.

Quite the transformation - well done

Shiny black Cerakoat over stainless. Interesting. Don't believe I've ever seen glossy black Cerakoat before. Looks great!
After seeing other Cerakoat finish I Decided to go the Gloss route. I wasn,t sure what to expect and left it up to Jim Kobe. I was quite surprised how nice it turned out even did the Warne bases.

If you are thinking about gwtting rid of that fiberglas stock, let me know ;)
Ok no problem Just let me see if it is Glass, I never gave it a second look after I pulled it off the rifle

The stock appears to be a Winchester/Bell and Carlson Composite that was offered on the Winchester Extreme Weather series fully bedded and Pillared

Some pics of the inside, The exterior camo looks like a factory finish rather than a rattle can and the stock has the serial number of the rifle etched in it the bedding runs the full length of the stock and the recoil pad is what bell and Carlson uses

I have no idea of the value of the stock, shoot me a pm with an offer we both can live with an the stock is yours

I agree with you. The wood stocked version is so...oooo much prettier.
@Shootist43
Art I agree with you the other one looks like @Forrest Halley did one of his famous rattle can paint job on it. He loves his rattle cans and is probably a closet graffiti artist trying to get out.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
