Gents:
I'll be arriving at Heathrow on 05/18 and staying at the Mitre House Hotel (I hope I chose wisely) in Paddington. Yes, I'm flying in for Harry and Meghan's wedding. Don't judge me. I'm nerdy like that. Besides going to Windsor, I'm hitting the Imperial War Museum and the London Zoo.

I would love to get together with other members of AfricaHunting and have a pint. I'm travelling alone. It would be great to make new friends.

You will be in the middle of very high end rifle and gun heaven. So after the wedding you should have lots of window shopping to do! If you haven't been there before, Google " Central London gun shops" and watch the map that pops up! Have a great time!

I work in London, just round the corner from the likes of
Hollands & Purdey. Delighted to give you a tour & any other recommendations that you may need

Vanguard, you should take Mr. Free Market up on this offer unless you are already familiar with central London....I would. Then end your day at The Gun Restaurant in the Docklands, a 220 year old pub restaurant with tons of history, both good and bad. Probably the most famous regular customer was Admiral Horatio Nelson!

Mr. Free Market: That sounds great. I'll arrive the morning of the 18th and I'm leaving the afternoon of the 22nd. Not nearly as long a trip as I'd like, but it's what I have.
Sierraone: That sounds like a great idea.

Delighted to help. PM me

But on the subject of restaurants, Docklands is a sod of a long way east: out of preference, I'd shoot for Rules in Covent Garden

In the year Napoleon opened his campaign in Egypt, Thomas Rule promised his despairing family that he would say goodbye to his wayward past and settle down. No sooner said than he opened an oyster bar in Convent Garden. To the surprise and disbelief of his family, his enterprise proved to be not only successful but lasting.

Contemporary writers were soon singing the praises of Rules’ “porter, pies and oysters”, and remarking on the “rakes, dandies and superior intelligence’s who comprise its clientele”.

Rules still flourishes, the oldest restaurant in London and one of the most celebrated in the world.

But wait, it gets even better.....

Rules serves the traditional food of this country at its best – and at affordable prices. It specialises in classic game cookery, oysters, pies and puddings. Rules is fortunate in owning an estate in the High Pennines, “England’s last wilderness”, which supplies training in game management for the staff, exercising its own quality controls and determining how the game is treated.

yes, most of the menu has exit wounds & the wine list is pretty good as well. Don't ask me how I know this!

Sounds like a great option to me! Will try to track down on my next trip over!

Rules is an awesome place to eat very old school. If I can make it I shall pop down to London (mum still lives there) there are a few good bars and pubs near by. The nags head in belgravia has been a regular of mine since 2000 (army days). Chaps keep me in the loop and shall endeavour to make it

What is a good day for you gents? I don't know how much of the day the events of the 19th will take up. I will be using the train.

Appears I'll be there at the same time as well. Our HQ is in the City (Heron Tower). Would love to tag along if folks don't mind. Can't believe I haven't eaten in Rules yet! To be fair I generally avoid Covent Garden due to the crowds.

Okay, Monday the 21st works for me as well. I fly out on 05/22 at 1640.

I might be back at work by then. I could meet you for a drink or two on the 19th in the evening. To celebrate the unification of our nations through marriage sort of thing.

Norfolk Shooter: That sounds like a plan.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
