It's 5 card draw with 10,2 & 4 wild.

Anything less than 4 aces is a loser unless it is played with the additional rule that there needs to be at least one "natural" card in your hand for the wilds to be assigned, unless all that are in your hand are 10,2 or 4s.

I've heard of it, but never played it that way. We used Jokers with 2's or 3's, and 7's or 9's (and one eyed jacks if there were 6 more players).

We didn't play much draw poker, house rules and limits, draw poker wasn't that exciting as:
night baseball,
7 card no peek,
7 card stud (straight, dealer's choice wild card, low hole roll your own, lowest card down-in your hand wild)

I never heard of this type of poker before. Looks damn interesting. On the other hand - I'm not a big fan of poker, TBH. Because it's hard to win in poker. You can't just calculate the algorithm and make your opponent lose all his money like you can do with machines. As far as it goes, I win more often than I lose. Because I have a proper strategy.

Have a strategy for a computer program? Hmmm. I am not sure the house is quaking. My experience is that anyone who says they win consistently at slots - in a casino or online - is ... confused.

Traditional poker, as in none of these wild card games, is primarily a game of skill. It is why a lot of people don't care for it. I really enjoy it. A good player will clean out the table eventually. The new poker can also be played skillfully. I just don't much care for it. I refuse to play poker anywhere the house takes a piece of the pot (read casino). The math is unbeatable. The house eventually takes everything. And poker machines have nothing to do with poker - they are just another slot program.

Most will tell you the best odds in a casino are at the craps table. The house still eventually wins, but a good player can at least find a few hours entertainment without going bust, and will occasionally be able to cash out meaningfully ahead.

And finally, 21. A true card counter can improve odds enormously, particularly as the dealer works deeper into the deck. The house devotes a lot of attention to spotting them. Someone with simply a feel for trends can spend a lot of time being entertained without being thrown out or getting rich.

Played spades a good bit in the Navy and made some small change.
Learned how to count cards and read people, reading people is the real key.
No problem counting with a single deck...but a 6-deck shoe for 21 is another story.
I can amuse myself for a while...but in the end it's entertainment, and the house wins eventually.
I didn't dedicate myself to leaning the skill of poker or 21 well enough to make money at it.

Playing cards with friends can be a good way to lose friends if they (or you) are sore losers.
If you can't afford to loose what you are playing with...you shouldn't be playing.

Card games such as poker are luck of the draw as far as odds of having the best hand. The object is to not wager much on a losing hand and a lot with a winning hand. It is also necessary that the others in the game wager a lot on hands that are losers. It does no good if a player gets a Royal Flush and everyone else folds with no bet. So the best situation is for everyone at the table to get a hand that they think will win, bet accordingly, then you have the best hand and win the pot.

A friendly card game is a lot of entertainment for a little money. Maybe not in a casino. I did a brief stint in the military ( third of a century )and we played a lot of poker. Many FBI Special Agents played as well, near the bases. Dealer called the game. And Dr Pepper was infamous. Indian (now known as Native American ) was not my favorite either. Baseball ( 3's and 6's wild, and for every 9 you get an extra card down, with 7 Stud as format) not my best. Poker.....yes Poker......often called 5 card draw, is the best game going........(if I have posted this before, I apologize...drinking a Lagavulin 16 with a salute to Odinsraven)....and remember this rule: Never gamble with a man who's first name is the same as a city...............................FWB

One Friday night in college, I came back to my dorm room where my stoner roommate and his stoner buddies were only contained by the ceiling in the room. They were playing poker for money(small) and quite badly. They invited me to join. I declined as I knew the state they were in, well it would be shooting fish in a barrel.

They had none of it. Accepted as cash were these funny laundry tickets that you stuck in the washer/dryers instead of coins. So who was I to say no? Needless to say I didn't have to pay for laundry the rest of that semester.

Kind of grew up poker savvy- from about age 5 to maybe 12, I remember watching the poker bunch when they came to our house for the Friday night rotation- about once every 6-7 weeks. Once in a while one the bunch would call Dr Pepper and everyone would let out a groan. Mostly they would play common games IIRC like: 5 Card Draw, 7 Card Draw, 5 Card Stud Low Ball, 5 Card Stud and the like. Usually with one Joker, sometimes Jacks or Better called. One of their favorites that included a wild card other than the Joker was 7 Card, Low Hole Card Wild. Fast forward to some of my games in school and later with co-workers - when Dr Pepper was called, most would roll their eyes and groan. I always thought one of the most vicious poker games was 5 Card Stud Low. and my favorites were on of the high-low split games...

DrPepper is just like 5 card stud except the 2,4,10 are wild, which means that 12 of the 52 cards are wild- so add to that 4 aces and you have 16/52 aces or better. It's really a card game where you're betting match sticks and everyone is about 3/4 "in the tank".

Yep, played it in college; usually when we needed to go to bed soon and wanted to clear the pot. Betting pennies and nickels so no big deal.
