AH legend
Apparently he is being declared the early winner for President in Kenya. I tried searching his stance on hunting, but couldn't find anything.
You are correct, I work in Kenya and I have yet to meet a pro hunter, (except a few Masai friends) He was schoolmates with a friend of mine and overall I think he will be good for Kenya. If I ever get the chance to chat with him which is doubtful, I will ask about hunting.I dont have a clue where Ruto stands... but I'd guess its not politically expedient for him to publicly support hunting in any way.. whether he privately supports it or not...
Ive got a handful of kenyan friends.. all of whom are reasonably educated.. all of whom are in professional career fields, etc... with the exception of the one "Kenyan Cowboy" that I know.. none of them are pro-hunting in any way.. They all appear to have drank the 1977 kool-aid and are convinced that hunting is bad for the animals, bad for their economy, bad for their culture, etc..etc..
Im sure there are more exceptions than my one "Cowboy" friend... but.. I fear pro-hunters in Kenya are nowhere even remotely close to even a significant enough number in the population to make a pro-hunting stance politically viable at any level... (I pray that I am wrong.. but fear that I am likely not..)..
Very little wildlife outside the parks in Kenya, we have a large farm east of Thika and have seen baboons re-establish residency as well as a lone hippo wound up in our water storage pond however I rarely see any other wildlife except within the parks.Does Kenya have the same people/wildlife conflicts as Namibia or Botswana, or because they have way less wildlife remaining are they few and far between?
