Hello All, This may have been covered here already but I need to ask. I've heard about guys having trouble with bows in Heathrow (and Frankfurt) I'm just checking to see if anyone here has had issues or has any advice on the matter. I figure first hand info would be better than internet horror stories. We are traveling from Canada to East London and are getting ready to book our flights. Any insight would be great. Thx Sowbelly

Welcome to the forum :)

I don't know how it is when you travel from Canada, but a few weeks ago I went to South Africa to hunt with my bow.
On my way there I flew Norway(Oslo)-Germany(Frankfurt)-South Africa(Joburg).
On my way home I flew South Africa(Joburg)-England(Heathrow)-Norway(Oslo).

Absolutely no problems at all. I also flew trough Frankfurt both ways in 2011 with gun and bow without any problems.
I know some hunters flying from the states need to have some import papers done for their guns when flying trough Frankfurt, but I don't think this is the case when it comes to bows.

From what I have been told by many, is to stay away from Holland(Schiphol airport in Amsterdam) if you travel with a bow. Many had lots of trouble there.

We just got back from RSA on July 14. We flew out of Toronto to London Heathrow and then to Johannesburgh. On our way back we flew into Frankfurt and then to Toronto. We had absolutely no problem with our bows.

Enjoy your trip. It is a fantastic place. I am already starting to save for my next trip to Africa.

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
