It is Finally time to Get back to Africa!!! I had Covid-19 back in February and yes it kicked my ass but I am not down for the count!! I just recently got the COVID-19 J&J Vaccination and that kicked my ass too!! But I am ready to get on that flight!! If you look now, flights out of the states are extremely reasonable and there is no reason not to make this move!! Especially if you got the vaccination!! When I was booking the flight I practically had the whole back end of the Plane to pick from. The Lock-Down has made me CRAZY (along with COVID) and I am so ready for another adventure! I just booked a solid week of hunting with my good friends at Kuche Safari and I can't wait!! It might have been a spur of the moment, and my wife might be a tad bit annoyed... .but honestly I think she is more annoyed that I am home all of the time now anyways... So this might be a way of marriage counseling... or a very effective way of compromising... depends on how you look at it... See ya on the flight!!!! I will keep everyone posted on how the airports are along the way and of course pictures of pre-WallPorn when they hit the dirt... Flying Qatar Airways to Dallas, to Doha and then to Jo-berg.

At the moment Qatar has stolen a march on its competitors. I am taking them from Houston to Lusaka, Zambia in August. Business is a great deal as well. Moreover, Qatar has a transfer agreement with Air Link - so no gun drill in Jo'burg - all baggage checked thru to final destination. :A Big Hello::A Thumbs Up::A Way To Go:

No gun drill on the transfer to Air Link is probably to best part of your post Joe.

I booked on relatively short notice as well. Meeting up with some family who had a trip postponed from last year. Anchorage-Seattle-Doha-Joburg, round trip for $795.

$795 is a steal.....

$795 is a steal.....

Even better since Qatar Airways partners with Alaska Air and I should get enough miles for a free in state ticket by the time I'm done.

There is just something about putting together a last minute safari!
Please give us a full trip report and let us know what you think of Qatar and those long flights.

Best of luck, glad you are going! I am going April 30 and then again Sept 27 to the Dark Continent!

Hope it's a great trip. I have to wait until July 2022 to get back to Africa.

Wish you the best :D Cheers:

Congrats and good hunting. Great deals but the thing that concerns me is getting stuck over there if covid flares and you can't get out. Hope all works well.

I am booked for June 23rd 1100 wheels up. And I am leaving from the People's Republic of Canada, where we have only vaccinated 1.5% of our population so far and on return you attend a mandatory hotel quarantine.... But I give zero F$%#@. I am going. I have done far more dangerous in my life, I am sure I will survive this.

Agreed, but as Frank Drebin says "You take a chance getting up in the morning, crossing the street or sticking your face in a fan."

Thanks everyone!! Appreciate all of the wishful thinking!!! If I run into any snags along the way I will be sure to post so you can avoid them. Outside of my wife staring at me crosseyed and a small change in flights... All is going good!!! Post soon!!!

I’m headed to go hunting with kuche safaris for the first time. Will be there for 2 weeks in July.

Gosh it is good to see you all heading back our way, it looks to be a great season. I hope all the outfitters, hunting farms, safari operators and PH's all get a look in to keep them going. I see Harare even has a new gun shop with some great stock.
