Folks I’m a bit stuck here.
So I’m going out in May to KZN. I was going to mount the items in the UK because 1) spreads the costs out 2) before any import regs change and 3) easier dialogue with taxidermist.
I’d been recommended an outfitter for dip and pack who’s in Limpopo I believe and everything was looking good.
Apparently there’s a bad foot and mouth outbreak in KZN so restrictions on cloven hooves animals and their products moving out of the area. Possibly not without a vet certificate?
Is there someone you can recommend as a taxidermist or for dip and pack in KZN?
The chap I’ve had dialogue with for dip and pack hasn’t given me a definitive no but is still looking into the technicalities. Is a vet certificate an option for salted items?
My last throw would be a good taxidermist in KZN? I’d rather not get hit with one big bill and also risk not having the skins in the country for 1-2 years is a big risk with things currently.
I’m not sure if anyone over there knows if the foot and mouth it’s any better or worse currently. It seems to be ongoing since 2022?
Cheers!
