I think you are in the right place to get the information you need. I would suggest that you add some more requirements. For example: budget, hunting or competition, chassis gun or traditional stock, etc.
Have you purchased the rifle, and if not why .308? There are perhaps some better calibers if your primary requirement is 1000 yards.
If I were starting from scratch and wanted a 1000 yard rifle, 308W would not be my starting point. There are too many better options available than this.
It also depends on the intended use for the rifle. Punching paper? Varmints? Are you considering hunting at those distances?
There are a host of options from 6.5mm to .338 caliber that will get the job done…and scopes to go with them.
However, more information will be needed, starting with your budget and purpose for the rig. In some cases it could be more cost effective to start from scratch and sell the R700 308W for capital.
