A friend of mine is in a phase of reducing his hunting rifle collection. He said he was taking a few for consignment to his local shop soon. I told him I would post the rifles that might be of interest to the forum.

Here is a Blaser R8 in 500 Jeffery. Nice wood stock. Weighs 8.8 lbs, unloaded without optic.
And the stats:
Barrel length- 23.75
Length of pull - 14.5
Holds 2 + 1
Shot 5 times
Nearly new condition
Comes with 40 rounds of Norma FMJ ammunition.
He is pretty motivated to sell so he is asking $8k for the rifle and ammunition, shipped.

Let me know if you have any questions about it.

Nice rifle GLWS

With the sporter stock to boot, I wish they still made these! If anyone on here has been humming and hawing about a larger R8 here’s your rifle.

Nice rifle. I am not much of a R8 guy, but if i ever bought one it would be one just like that. Should sell quickly.

Beautiful timber stock. GLWTS.

8.8 pound 500 Jeffery with only 5 shots on it.
That’s about 4 more than I’d expect from a rifle that light.
Your friend is one tough dude!

There is a hair on the rifle in the photo above. It has been confirmed there is no scratch on the barrel.

Agree. beautiful rifle but at 8.8 pounds will kick you into another world. ouch!!!

The seller will take $6,900, shipped, for the rifle and ammunition. This is the final price reduction for this rifle. This rifle is heading to consignment and listing on Gunbroker next Monday, the 29th of January.

Thanks,

RC

If someone added larger red dot, 1 lb kickstop and maybe an 1 1/8” pad I bet it would tame it down a bit. GLWS

Wildcatter, I would have been all over this if I saw it sooner but have gone a different R8 direction just before joining this site.

That said, if your friend has a double rifle suitable for DG please post here or reach out to me directly. I think it is going to be a gun purchase that takes me to Africa, not the other way around.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
