Dear Fellow AH Forum members.

Apologies if this has been covered here before but no matter. I have recently been greatly enjoying the book by Brian Herne and would thoroughly recommend it. Hence this post.

"White Hunters - The Golden Age Of African Safaris "

I am sure many members are already aware of this, however for those that aren't here is a link to the audio books read (I think) by Mr Herne himself.

I have tried to research this gentleman (Herne) but found very little other than a transcription of some emails in respect of Sitatunga hunting in Uganda.

If anyone can provide any intel about Mr Herne that would be good.

Link to YouTube audiobook below..

Where did you get the book sir?

Dear friend
Sorry if I mislead. That was not my intention. I am "enjoying the book" not "reading it" . Sadly I do not have the book.
I am still currently enjoying the audiobook whilst I reply to this courtesy of You Tube.

Regards

Now I understand! Enjoy!

Bought a paperback copy from Amazon some time ago. As stated, a great read.

It is a good book with a lot of history.

If you want more information, do an advanced search here and type in Brian Herne White Hunter. You will get more information on him and the book.

All the best.

Definitely a great read. Available on Amazon- I listened to it on audible- great way to pass the time on a long flight to Africa!

Listening to the audio book now. It is very good.

Where did you get the book sir?

When I started my research of the subject of African hunting, this was one of the first books I have read.
Can be found on amazon.
I can only recommend most highly!

Thanks for the info Mark

I too have the audio book. It is an excellent timeline of the history until I believe about 1970s. Primarily Kenya, but some on Uganda and other countries as the White Hunters were searching for fresh hunting grounds.
I listened to it on my 1,000 mile drives the last couple of years to visit my mother. It was just me and my bird dog on these trips, so it really made the time go by faster.
Great listening and I'm sure great read (just can't read it and drive:ROFLMAO:). I highly recommend it. Amazon is where I finally found it.
Enjoy

Got this one from the local library. Best read I've ever had, and I'm not even a bookworm

His earlier book UGANDA SAFARIS is also a great book. I have had WH for years.

I read the book a few months ago. Now I am playing to go on a Safari. Great read.

Waidmann's Heil Fallow Jaeger. Yes a great book. Keep us posted on your Safari plans.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
