Hello IvW and Fellow Rifle Enthusiasts,

The Brno ZKK series of rifles are much under appreciated where I live.
Those who do have them here generally hold tightly onto them.

Nonetheless, I would like to find a 602 Magnum, caliber .375 H&H, not overly expensive due to a ruined bore (rusted rifles are common here in coastal Alaska).
Then, it would be a relatively simple matter for the Gunsmith to rebarrel it to .300 H&H caliber and install so called “express sights” on said barrel.

I would have the new barrel cut to the same length and contour as the original barrel was.
On this rifle I would install a simple fixed power Austro-German scope in lever rings.
I have a spare Zeiss 4x (now a discontinued model) that could work.
But, a similar quality 6x seems like it might be a bit more appropriate to this potential long shooter.

I’m an old man now and have formerly owned quite a diversified selection of rifles, including more than one .300 H&H.
I sold most of my guns to pay for the 6 times to Africa and many more than that hunting / fishing trips in other locations.
Unfortunately today, I do not have a .300 any more
Maybe yet I will find a Model 602, suitable for conversion.
It’s forecast for rain here this week so, I remain hopeful. LoL.

Kind Regards,
Velo Dog

I paid US$560 for this one....

Also forgot the 8x64s.

In addition to those already mentioned:
602:
358 Norma Magnum was one of the standard 602 offerings. I have also seen a 602 in 300 H&H (factory original).
601:
222 Rem Mag was also a factory offering for the 601.
600:
270 WIN and 10.73x65
I suspect there were numerous other calibres available from time to time plus an ability to special order from the factory.

p.s. Is 6.5x55 Krag another name for 6.5x55 Swedish? I have definitely seen a number of 600s in 6.5x55 Swedish.

10.75x68mm Mauser (BRNO ZKK-600). All of them were built while the ZKK series still featured the pop up peep sight in the back of the receiver.

Does anyone know the production numbers of the various calibers?

Oh wow, a 404J would be a beauty. I would love to find one of those. I didn't realize they made those.

Hi Hunter-Habib,

I did never saw one ZKK 600 in 10,75x68. An under appreciated round. Specially
those who never used it...
And by the way, I have seen only in pictures the ZKK 600 in 9,3x64.

… a period company advertisement of ZKK 602, as defined the Tropical Model. I see @Hunter4752001 brought the .358N Mag into the conservation.

The 404 J and 416 Rigby were never factory made in the ZKK 602.
Funny you should say that…. I sent a 602 in .375H&H to be rebored & rechamber to .404J

Reboring of the factory barrel did not go as planned and I was offered a .416Rigby barrel that was a “factory original takeoff”

Hi deewayne,

Originally, the ZKK 602 was made in 358 NORMA Magnum, 375 H&H and 458 Winchester Magnum.
Years later, 300 Winchester Magnum and a few 8x68 were added.
The 416 Rigby and the 404 Jeffery were made in the 550 Mágnum series.
May be, some special order for this two could be made for the ZKK 602. But AFAIK, were never offered oficially for that serie.

Hi, Clodo.

I’ve seen two in Australia, but to be fair … both could have been custom jobs built on BRNO ZKK600 actions.
