Does anyone here have any experience with a BSA Majestic rifle? I understand they are generally a decent push feed rifle.

Yes , I do . I used to have countless of my clients bring the Birmingham Small Arms .458 Winchester magnum calibre bolt rifles to India for shikar .

The muzzle brake is not a desirable feature for hunting dangerous game ... With professional hunters around you . It must be cut off , by a competent gun smith .

The magazine floor plate release catch is located INSIDE the bow of the trigger guard . Thus , there is always going to be a risk of the operator’s knuckle striking the magazine floor plate release catch , due to recoil ... Which causes the floor plate to pop open . This can easily be remedied by having a competent gun smith put a pin through the magazine floor plate release catch .

The patented “ Integral Recoil Management System “ does not actually work . The rifle weighs less that 7 pounds and the recoil is much more violent ... Than a pre 64 Winchester Model 70 , chambered in the same calibre . You need to have a competent gun smith add much more weight to the stock . Have him install mercury recoil reducers to the stock .

Have the nylon fore sight changed to a steel 1 , with an ivory bead .

It is an exceptionally accurate rifle . A reasonably competent operator can easily put 3 shots in to a 1 inch group , at 100 yards . I have done so , on countless occasions ... When sighting in these rifles for my clients .

I have 1 particularly traumatizing memory , involving Birmingham Small Arms Majestic .458 Winchester magnum calibre rifle . The incident is related in my article , “ The Gaur Which Ended A Shikar Career “ ... Which can be found on African Hunting Forums .

You are correct . The Birmingham Small Arms Majestic line of bolt rifles are of push feed platform . Only the earliest ( Made only from 1957 - 1958 ) Birmingham Small Arms Emperor line of bolt rifles ... Were of control round feed platform . By 1958 ... Birmingham Small Arms shifted all their rifle products to utilize a push feed platform , exclusively . This included the Majestic line of bolt rifles .

All the best .

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
