Definitely recommend anyone to check their gun. I didn't run across this by chance.

While patterning chokes at 40yds I found my brand new out of the box Browning Maxus to be shooting 11" high and 13" left. After researching it, it looks like the height is at the top end of what many actually strive for but the left is ridiculous. Next time get home I will be finding myself one of those fancy jigs :D and fixing the problem.

Neat to know that I now have an excuse for all those missed doves...

and quail....

and pheasant....

and........

Good info DH. Thanks

Lol

I tell you I was surprised I ever hit anything with my old CIL full choke shotgun and steel. When I patterned it, it was literally blowing smoke rings! Lol I couldn't believe it until I read up on steel shot choking and the physics behind it. Because steel is so hard the energy of collision propels the pellets apart far more than forgiving lead and if the environment is too chaotic (as it is in a full choke) the patterns degrade and the density in the center of the pattern degrades dramatically.

I'm telling ya. The center of the pattern is where the ducks were every time!

Lol, that gun dropped birds far more often than they flew away, Im not sure if that downplays the importance of pattern testing or is more of a commentary on my shooting. (n) Missed another one right into the bag :D
