This guy here....
I've heard that it is possible with the 50 BMG, but I always figured it was bull. I guess I was wrong....
I shot at a fox and the Bullet didn’t even penetrate the skin. The fox dropped dead and my investigation revealed that the bullet simply grazed the skin of the chest.
I fired a 90 grain Speer in 253 with 44 grains of AR2209 (oz powder that emulated IMR 4350).
A long time Ago i shot at a kangaroo a mighty long way out. It dropped dead. Investigation revealed the shot grazed the right side of its face and did not penetrate. The cartridge was 270 with a 130 grain bullet.
A friend and I were goat hunting. He found s young goat dead and his shot missed. He used a 243.
One could substitute “captive bred lion”, ultra long range game animal shooting, or any number of other ethical issues and written the same response. I think we all do our sport a disservice when we are quiet about what we perceive as unethical practices. I think using a .50 BMG on a deer is ridiculous and unethical. Note, no one said a thing about his right to own the bloody thing. And while I admit, I haven’t seen a deer shot with one, I have seen human beings that were hit by .50’s, and a shoulder strike on that doe would have been, let’s say, dramatic. Along with rejecting the “if it’s legal, shut up” argument, I also don’t see much good coming from attacking personally members on this site; one of the things that has separated this forum from others in which I no longer participate.Gizmo---"I am not really passing judgment" ????????????WTF Your post says different. The deer will not "vaporize" if hit with a 50BMG. You have been drinking too much of the anti-gun/hunting Kool-Aid if you believe that. I do not say you should not have an opinion(judgment) but at least be honest about it and not hide behind a smoke screen.
I understand you are one of the special members since you are an outfitter and I am just a member----- who has hunted for many years. I see you patting yourself on the back here all the time. Maybe some of it is deserved. But you do our sport no good when you start dividing us because you think something does not suit you. The antis love that and have been doing so to us for many years. We, as a collective group, still have not figured that out and often become our own worse enemy by not standing behind ALL hunting/firearm ownership. I can bet that some people will not like/agree with some of your hunting practices/choices also. But they do not need to put you down as long as your choices are legal where you hunt.

If you’d read what I said I’m pretty sure I specifically said he had the right to do whatever the hell he wanted to. I also don’t know where you get off with your smart ass “pat yourself on the back” comment. Im not hiding behind a smoke screen or any other thing as I was pretty crystal clear about what I said.Gizmo---"I am not really passing judgment" ????????????WTF Your post says different. .............Though to be fair, this video did prove in this case a miss did kill the doe.
