Day 2. We get to our treestands ..that we have used previously...to do a few calls and listen for responses....I call from my stand and have a single cow call response from approximately 500 yards away .....i wait and nothing....30 min later I hear an extremely big brach snap but nothing ever responds back that day ...so I know there is a moose there ...but he won't come to me or show his face ...so I spend lunch walking around and exploring seeing what I see ...can't seem to find tracks really so I spend the afternoon back in the stand hopefully for something eventful to happen....the day passes with nothing but the sounds of birds in the air and chipmunks walking around and fighting

Day 3 . ..I decided to start my morning not in a stand but on a rock 500 yards away from the stand from where I had previously Hurd a moose respond and break a branch ....and to my surprise I come across bull and cow in heat in the middle of the cut going at it for approximately one hour ...it was quite loud and the sounds she made sounded painful to say the least I try to circle around to focus on a shot but they are at a elevated position...wind me and walk further back into the cut where I can't see them ..but still hear them ...so I retreat back to the first location of where the original call and branch broke yesterday...when I sit down I realize I'm not alone ...there is approximately 7-8 moose within a 2-300 yard radius in the thick bush all bedded down waiting for there turn in the cut .....my inexperienced showed big time as I had the deer hunting mindset of just sit and wait ...walking will scare them away ...well I was totally wrong about that ...completely wrong this is a moose ..not a deer ..so I spend the rest of the day hearing moose sounds all around me ...but with out being able to even see a few feet into the bush I left highly disappointed and confused

Day 4..I go back my previous location where all the action has been taking place ..sit down. To realize non of the animals have moved ..in fact I can pin point all of there locations...the cow and bull are still in heat... thats when I hear the bull coming right at me! Grunting away walking right to my direction...I hear his antlers brushing up against the trees as he walks ...the excitement within me I almost couldn't contain...but the bull all of a sudden stops ....I think ...maybe I should grunt back and challage him? ...as I do I hear him slowly walk back and disappear...I was able to see him for approximately 1 second but not enough time to get a shot off ...I feel confused and completely disappointed....I think to myself what do I do now? If I walk to him he can hear me from a mile away ...but I sit and think that's when a cow 20 feet away from me shocks me and almost runs me over! He came from behind me trying to make a break for it crossing from the thick bush into the cut ...I turn I aim ...only had a slight shot at his back leg so I hesitated and didn't shoot....the cow ran at full speed ..geting me completely off guard...with the cow running away at full speed she is screaming a distress call so loud I sware it would wake up the dead ....now feeling completely defeated and disappointed in my self I go back to the hunt camp to Discuss strategy with my fellow hunters only to have them start arguing and fighting over what I should have done ....they are experienced moose hunters with completely different opinions on the situation ...I'm but an amateur only ever shooting a cow in my 2 hunts previously...so now I'm left confused....one says creep up on them ....anther says No you can't do that ....I'm left so confused...I don't want any part of them at this point I just want to focus on harvesting a moose no time for drama

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
