Well i am on my way to calgary then on to sundre for a mule deer/whitetail hunt near sundre this week, got to the hamilton airport then the wheels fell off. Flight delayed by 3.5hr due to fog. Get on plane ready to go and the captain comes out and cancels the flight since we went overtime...so since the hotels are full im going to "sleep" at the airport before my rebooked flight at 10am. Wish me luck.

Best of luck, I hope it sorts out from here!

I’ll look for a deer for you in the morning.

Thank guys. Theres 5 of us at this section of chairs charging phones, eating snacks as supper and shooting the shit. Going to be a long night. Will sleep good tommorow haha.

Now would be a good time to fill us in on the details of the hunt. Things like who you are hunting with or is this a DIY? Will you be using your own rifle(s), if so what calibers? Reloaded ammo or factory? Anybody else hunting with you? First time in this area or repeat hunt? How long from airport to hunting destination?

So to update, i got 0 sleep at the airport and am now waiting to board the rescheduled flight and should be in the air in about an hour. This is a guided hunt with 2BAlberta Outfitting. My rifle that i hope arrives in 1 piece is a Savage 10 in 308. Federal Trophy Copper 165gr @ 2700fps is the ammo. Ive never hunted this area and am going alone, my sister moved to alberta about 2 months ago so she is planning to come with us for a couple days. Its about 1.5hr from calgary to sundre

Best of luck Whitworth375! Don’t let these minor inconveniences detract from an exciting hunt!

Safe travels and good luck!

So another update...i got to calgary on time with all my luggage in one piece. Am hunting at torrington instead. Met the outfitter and some of his friends with a good buck. Saw a cow moose and about 30 deer between whitetails and mule deer

Today was great. Hopped in the truck and grabbed a quick breakfast at tim hortons then headed out to the hunting area. We drove a ton of miles and saw an insane amount of wildlife. 9 coyotes, 4 elk, 7 moose, 20 whitetails and 70+ mulies including 2 nice bucks who were both on land where there is no hunting allowed. Supper tonight was ham, mac and cheese and carrots with homemade apple pie for dessert. Hopefully we can find one of those bucks in the morning, will post more pictures later.

Canadian coyotes are just beautiful! I would have asked if I could shoot one! Hope this is your day!

We are going to go back to where we saw the big buck lastnight and hope that me has moved. He actually fought with a 130" whitetail and took off like a scalded cat so hopefully he went about a mile haha. Just right there it was 1 mulie buck maybe 6 whitetails and 4 elk within 400yd of each other

Today we saw about 10 coyotes, 20 whitetails, 4 moose including one really good bull and 60+ mue deer. Neither of the bucks we were looking could be found. We found a really cool looking non typical and a real good typical to check out in the morning. My sister is joining me in camp for a couple days so that will be fun. Supper tonighr was coleslaw, biscuits, brisket and corn on the cob. All GREAT!

WOW! Exciting just to see that much game!

I'm excited for you. This caught my attention as I live an hour north of Sundre. What was the reason for the change to Torrington? I'm glad you're seeing so much game and I wish you luck! I hope you have a fantastic time here!

When i first booked the hunt i was to be at Torrington then i got moved to Cochrane then to Sundre now back to Torrington haha. Scott and Mike dont do all of the guiding themselves so it depends on who is available to guide the first guy Ryan is busy moving bales and Logan is moving cattle so im here with Scott and Mike.

I'm looking forward to hearing how everything goes!

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
