we just recieved our animals as part of a large group that hunted r.s.a. last year. the animals came in country through calgary. we then had the luck of getting an anti hunting women for a canadian customs officer to clear our trophys. customs inspected the crates, which, by the way was 6 crates of 180 animals. they found a bug, and threatened to send the shipment back to r.s.a. our broker intervened and had the crates fumigated. then they would not release the animals until we payed taxes on trophy fees. toal cost of taxes was 3,800.00 and fumigation charges were 3,200.00 this was hard to swallow after the cost of dip and pack as well as shipping. fortunately, everything arrived in great shape and i am now waiting on taxi work. so i would recommend avoiding calgary as a point of entry for your shipments. we have appealed the taxes and are waiting on that. i find it bizarre that i can be taxed on my safari after returning home.
