I was skeptical when I saw that it was George Clooney's tequila brand, but it is about the smoothest tequila I have ever had. Seriously, I have no problem just sipping this stuff all night. This is a great tequila to try, especially if you are not a tequila fan. Does anyone else like Casamigos?

Never tried it but good to know. Which of the Casamigos are you sipping on?

Thanks I will try it if I get a chance!

Here is a great tequila for the price Abandonado añejo

And you can never go wrong with the Don Julio 1942 Tequila :)

Don Julio is some fine stuff. Pricey, but worth it.

I am a big fan of Milagro, Herradura, and Casa Dragones.

I cannot say that my tastes have graduated towards tequila in a meaningful way. I did, however, purchase Class Azul Reposado. It is a nice small batch tequila.

Try Jose Cuervo's Reserva de la Familia. I'm a Tequila fan, this is by far the best I've ever had.

As to be expected it is not inexpensive nor is it readily available.

Never drink cheap booze! The good stuff is harder to find but worth the search.

Yesterday was national Tequila day here in the states, and I didn't even drink any. Dang it!

How about Patron ? Platinum is good stuff or am I mistaken?
Patron is good, not my favorite. I usually use it in making margaritas. I prefer Herradura and Milagro for margaritas though.

Casamigos is more of a sipping tequila. It is great in a margarita, but it is better by itself because it is so naturally smooth it does not need to be mixed.

Patron Silver or Platinum, fresh squeezed lime juice, and agave - no other junk, mixes, etc. Shaken not stirred on the rocks - with or without salt. Best margarita on the planet.

Macallan scotch, tanqueray gin, Windhoek beer. Ok but I'm not tough enough for tequila, really Jerome, I thought you only drank wine at mass

That Don Julio 1942 is really good. I got some for my wife for christmas a few years ago and it really changed my view of what tequila can be.

I do know that cheap, Jose Cuervo, gives you a wicked hangover.

Anyone ever try Sammy Hagar's brands of Tequila?

Hola Saul, cem rona ergin, Brent in AZ and others,

Saul,
I've not heard of Casamigos until now and so have no experience with it.
If you say it is smooth, I expect that it is exactly that.
Perhaps one day I will get the chance to try it.

cem rona ergin,
I have only tried Patron silver and it was pretty smooth but, I've not tried their "Platinum" version, due to the high cost.
With that $200.us price tag, no doubt it is very, very good.

My basement man cave is essentially a pub that, one of my friends had declared should be called; "The Safari Bar" and the name stuck.
(Some day I will get organized and have a sign made that reads; "The Safari Bar, proudly serving whatever you bring").
Anyway as such, different friends have donated, a bottle of Tequila here and there over the years (among other misc., distilled toxins).
At this stage, I believe there are 6 or 8 Tequila brands down there.

Brent in AZ,
In general, tequila does not taste especially good to me and so, even though I'm no angel, nonetheless I go many months at a time without having any tequila.
And while we're at this, same goes especially for mescal as well, since the only one I've tasted was too smoky and so, I disliked it very much.
That being said, yes I've tried Hagar's label, specifically "Cabo Wabo Tequila Blanco".
As tequila goes, I suppose it was no better or worse than the half dozen or so tequilas that I have tried but, not as smooth as Patron (which has a neutral flavor IMO).
To describe Cabo Wabo (stupid name) specifically, I'd say it also had a neutral flavor.
(The original bottle is still about 2/3 full here, in case you ever get up this way one day, to give a 2nd opinion).

Regarding Jose Cuervo, one of my friends (who, is a self proclaimed; "Appreciator de Tequila"), once said; "Jose Cuervo is to tequila what Captain Morgan is to rum, and that for sure ain't no compliment".
At any rate, I don't believe I've tried Cuervo of any sort and so, I have no opinion on it.
But, between your vote and his, I plan to remain up wind from Jose's label until further notice.

At the end of the day, if old V. Dog is to sip a wee drop of tequila, con los amigos y vecinos, I'd definitely prefer one that tastes a little bit like dirt (or "earthy" if you have more brain cells than a sea mollusk which, I definitely do not so, it's "dirt flavor" to me and I definitely prefer it).
For that dirt flavor, Tarantula blanco is tolerable, taken at room temperature, no lime or salt, just the tequila in a small glass for sipping, as the hunting, fishing, car chases and stories of long lost lost love affairs are told.

Salud, amor, dinero y tiempo para disfrutarios,
El Pero de Velocidad.

I don't drink much, or very often. Years ago some of us played a game of "quarters", and everyone picked on me. It was one of those nights were I paid homage to the " porcelain God". For some years after, just the smell of Tequila made me woozy. I have only sampled maybe 6 brands.

Here again, there are some preferences being expressed. I like my liquor straight or neat over ice. Whether it be aged Kentucky Bourbon, or Tennessee sour mash. I spent about three years out of the last twenty five years of my working life in Mexico. While there I had ample opportunity to sample most brands of Tequila. I regard many of the brands mentioned above as something a male panther uses to mark his territory. I must admit that I've never tried Casamigos, but I'm willing to give it a whirl. If it isn't up to par I can always put it in a Margarita for someone else to drink.
