Zimbabwe we're taking about. Mnangagwa is filling his Swiss bank account with Chinese gold...My advice to the Hwange land managers keep quiet and send their families to SA for a long holiday!
Zimbabwe: Jailed Journalist ‘Gravely Ill’ After Prison Guards Starved Him
Persecution of political dissidents was commonplace under the late dictator Robert Mugabe and his successor Emmerson Mnangagwa has made no attempts to improve his dire human rights record. Following Mugabe’s departure in late 2017, Mnangagwa
promised to usher in a new era of prosperity to the troubled country, although his leadership is now effectively indistinguishable from his predecessor.
His victory in the 2018 presidential elections remains widely
disputed by internal and foreign observers, while the country’s dire economic predicament has only worsened. Last November, the United Nations
warned in a report that Zimbabwe was on the brink of “man-made starvation,” a situation that has since been exacerbated by lockdowns imposed during the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.
Zimbabwe Arrests Lawmaker for Distributing Anti-Socialist Masks
Authorities in Zimbabwe
arrested an opposition lawmaker Monday for distributing masks demanding the removal of the country’s repressive socialist regime, local media reported.
Police arrested Prince Dubeko Sibanda, who serves as a Member of Parliament (MP) and MDC Alliance Matabeleland North chairman, in the city of Bulawayo for distributing face masks inscribed “#ZanuPFMustGo,” a reference to the left-wing party formerly led by late Robert Mugabe that still rules Zimbabwe by decree.
Zimbabwe: Police Disappear Anti-Government Activists Before Planned Protest
Zimbabwe police have cracked down on anti-government activists in recent days, arresting and allegedly abducting some investigative journalists, South African newspaper the Daily Maverik
reported Friday.
Zimbabweans had planned to peacefully protest this week against the government’s alleged corruption in its handling of funds allocated for coronavirus medical supplies and increasing poverty and hunger in the struggling nation. According to the Daily Maverik, the demonstrations were thwarted by an alleged alliance between the ruling party Zanu-PF and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), who deployed security forces to major city streets to prevent Zimbabweans from protesting.
And that's just the Aug headlines...and why I'm not interested in hunting Zimbabwe!
