Hi Chris
It works here in Zim which is amazing considering our terrible internet speed. Questions and thoughts Chris as I am in the making of a promo for our selves.
1/ How do you get a promo DVD out to as many people as possible?
2/ I would be a little concerned putting clients emails on the promo- with all the antis- out there
3/ I would delete the impala shot with a rifle from the blind
Just my 2 cents worth otherwise very nice!!!!
Thanks Buzz, I value your input - especially considering your experience with this kind of thing and the quality of your own videos. Two years ago I contracted a "professional" video editing company to compile a promo DVD for me and the final product was of such poor quality that I decided to invest in an editing program myself to see if I couldn't do better. I'm still learning but it seems my "investment" is paying dividents...
Answering your questions:
1/ Difficult question to answer... This was the first time I uploaded my promo onto the net but based on the responses so far I guess this is quite an effective way of getting it out there (if one can get it out to everyone of course - which is something I'm still struggling with but hope to get sorted soon). I also always leave as many copies as what I can overseas when I visit there and send some over to my agents for distribution. And lastly; when I get an enquiry online I usually volunteer to send a copy of my promo to the potential client...
2/ Valid point. Although when I receive an unflattering email from an anti I see this as an opportunity to educate them...
3/ I was watching a hunting program on ESPN this morning showing White Tail Deer being shot with rifles from a blind in Texas so it appears that this is quite a common hunting method in that part of the world. Whilst this is not our typical way of hunting here in Africa, it is something that can be set up legally if required. I take your point though.
There is actually quite an interesting bit of history behind the impala that was shot from the blind... This lady came over as an observer and had no intention of doing any hunting herself. BUT, as the hunt progressed she showed more and more interest in hunting so we set it up for her on her last day here. In the original version of the video there was a nice segment wherein Iris jokingly says she thinks she should have "practiced up" a little bit before she came over so she could show her 4 male companions how things should be done and me replying: "Well, it's never too late to start..." The next segment shows how she puts her money where her mouth is...
Anyway, thanks again for everyone's input. Getting responses of this nature helps to make the next production better.
Best,
