I'm quite eager to do a safari this year that is fair chase and free range. I'd like to see if anyone would be interested in offsetting my costs through a trade or a sale.
I have a custom built falling block rifle in .340 Weatherby Magnum. This gun has best English walnut that is near exhibition grade including glass bedding of the forend, custom grip cap, ebony tip and beautiful panel checkering. The gun has a mercury recoil reducer in the stock and a generous 14.5" length of pull. Trigger work has been done and a very costly bit of receiver work has occurred to greatly reduce the safety height so that positive and rapid ejection may occur. A custom 23" barrel in roughly a type 3 contour and a quarter rib completes the ensemble.
To have this gun made would easily cost over $7500 today. ($1500 wood, $3500 stocking and finishing, $1000 for the action, $700 for the safety work, $100 to fit the recoil reducer, $850 to build and fit the barrel)
I even have a box of Norma Ammunition for the gun.
The 340 Weatherby Magnum will push a 200gr accubond bullet at 3225fps in a factory load. Hand loads can go higher and the gun can also handle bullets to over 250 grains. It's about as much power as you can get out of a .338" projectile without going to a .338 Lapua bolt action gun.
I'd sell the gun outright for $4500 or consider a trade towards some of the costs of a free range, fair chase, no high fence Safari for 2015.
