For sale : CZ Safari Classic Magnum in 404 Jeffery.

This was purchased for a Safari that has changed into a bow hunt. (my "heavy" rifle").

This version is a semi custom rifle. It is built on contract in Missouri for CZ as a custom shop model. It has the barrel band and express sights (see pics). The trigger is fully adjustable and is in fact a single "set" trigger. Drop mag hold 5 rounds.

This rifle has been fired 66 times with cleaning between shots for the first 30, then cleaned after each 6 shot group. Every shot has been chronographed. I have two very promising loads, one with Barnes 400 grn X bullets, the other with Northfork 400 grn SS bullets. Each use H4350 and between 82.0 and 83.0 grains. The rifle shoot 1.2" at 100 meters with the Barnes and sub-moa at 100 meters with the Northfolk bullets. Either is more than capable considering you have 400 grains going at approx 2250-2300 fps. Recoil gets your attention but is not abusive. More of a big push then a sharp jolt like a 300 mag.

See the link for one online vendors price:
Gun Room - Hendershots Sporting Goods

Included with what I paid:

CZ Classic Safari in 404 Jeffery - $2350.00 (was on sale, normal price was over 3K)
18 round of RWS solid ammo - $90.00
40 new pieces of RWS brass - 90.00
60 once fired brass - 90.00
31 Northfolk 400 grn SS bullets - 83.00
21 Barnes 400 grn X bullets - 25.00
50 Barnes 350 grn X bullets - 55.00
90 Barnes 400 grn solids - 100.00
Alaska Arms custom quick detach 30mm rings - 139.00
Hornady Custom 404 Jeffery dies - 87.00

(SCOPE IS NOT INCLUDED BUT WILL BE FOR SALE SEPARATELY. SEE ADDITIONAL INFO IN THE OPTICS SECTION)

Please note true bullet diameter is .423. Several companies offer good choices for this round.

I have $3289.00 in this set and I got a VERY good deal on this rifle new. (almost $1000.00 off normal asking price.)

I would take $2850.00 FIRM SHIPPED to the lower 48 states for the set. I am losing over $400.00 on an as new rifle with all accessories for loading. All paperwork and box will be included. No trades please.

For FTF in WA State, I can meet at noon during the week n the Sportco lot in Fife or evening/weekends in the Cabelas lot in Lacey. Willing to drive a little for a meet as well.

PM me or TEXT 253-312-2136.

Thanks,

Jeff

This is definitely the saddest post I have ever seen on AH.. :crying:
I wish you didn't have to do this.

Doc,
I think you need another 404 bud.

I know... Our bonuses went into the toilet this year so I need to do some adjusting of priorities! I hate to sell, it is in perfect condition and has some real accuracy potential.

Would you consider selling just the rifle? If so, for how much?

HI Jeff

Would you show some close up pictures of the stock both sides.

Take the pictures with out the flash - for better detail -

Thank you

Now for your posting and price, just for clarify purposes are the above items part of the package?

James,

I can get those to you this afternoon. Do you want those emailed?

Yes, everything is included as is shipping to the lower 48 for 2600.

Additional photos as per request!...

Jeff

Thank you

I could not tell if it was a right or left hand stock from your first pictures

Looks just like mine! Nice rifle and a hell of a buy with all the goodies for sure! Someone better scoop this up. I would if I didnt already have one.

A year ago I'd have been all over this.

Like loosing a member of the family ain't it Doc.

Best of luck on getting it sold for a good price cornhusk.

sestoppelman is doing his best to stop the sale, something about selling the first born instead...

..ok, so who's the lucky guy ? what's the name of my new friend..?

DOC, that would be me!

While I'm really looking forward to shooting the rifle, I have to mention that it was a pleasure meeting and working with cornhuskid. He's very knowledgeable about not only this caliber but reloading in general.

I plan to use it on a tuskless hunt next year. I was on the fence between the .404 and .416 but realized that loaded up to about 2350 fps-ish, it'll perform up to par with the .416. Sacrifices a bit of SD for more frontal diameter.

What has been your experience with the 404? Have you used it on Ele?
