Dalton & York safaris pride themselves not just being hard working and consistent on safari but focus a lot on the aspect of conservation and community development especially in the omay.
Dalton been in the area from 2006 and York being there from 2015 it is more than just a hunting area to them but a home . The community knows them by name and they know most of the community by name it is a close bond .
In the 3 years we have been involved as operators in the omay we have sunk over 10 boreholes, help erect 4 schools , purchased an ambulance for the local clinic , donated numerous amounts of school stationery and in 3 years delivered over 100 tons of meat to the communities.
We are in a collaboration with African conservancies who we share the anti poaching duties with . Currently employ over 60 game scouts who have been trained by national parks and the police force . We also work in close collaboration with African parks who have been our legal support and assisted man power for the last 3 years .
2024 was not an easy year for the local communities having been in a drought the subsistence crops were desecrated to nothing . Hunger leads to poaching as any of us would do if put in the situation. Unfortunately we cannot let that happen and we managed to restrict it hugely. We are not just trying to regulate animal poaching but also the flora side too, the production of charcoal was getting out of control but have managed to limit this immensely.The men of the ground have truly worked tirelessly and we appreciate them for their work.
In the last 3 years we have had to attend multiple crocodile victims loosing limbs by trying to wade through water with illegal nets . Even though they are not doing the right thing we are always there to assist on Friday we had our first victim of the year loosing his left foot, this is tragic .
I have attached numerous photos of some of our anti poaching team members , poachers caught, illegal charcoal deposits ,boreholes erected with tanks and some of the donations made to various schools.
To end non of this would be possible with out the support of you the hunters and associations that support us and we thank you for all you do together we can make a difference
