I thought you could fly Dallas to Qutar then direct to Johannesburg. No?
Do we know if it’s canceled for the entire month? I’m scheduled to leave the 21st. If anyone comes across the press release, please post here.Travel agent just advised me that Delta cancelled ATL to JNB flight that was scheduled to start June 1st.
Not 15 1/2 hour options.Okay what am I missing? Is their not other options?
Yes, other options. But some result in 36+ hour trip to get to destination versus 24 hour trip via ATL to JNB.Okay what am I missing? Is their not other options?
Insanity! Not to armed hijack this thread, but my brother in law went to Mexico a few weeks ago. His Covid "test" was a fever check in the hotel (not at the airport) before returning to the US. Really! How many of those tens of thousands Spring breakers returning from Mexico have spread the virus since returning? Meanwhile, back in the land of STUPID, the restaurants here are sitting people every other table, but you can sit shoulder to shoulder at the bar WITHOUT a mask! The schools here are back to full in school learning, but the open air shooting range where I need to qualify for my CCW renewal Is CLOSED! Stupid is as stupid does!I hope they are not just jockeying for the next covid handout... errrah bailout. Sadly I wouldn't doubt it. First it's the contrived worldwide panic cancellation of business with little push back from the big players. Then it's dump the 777 for a not-quite-long-enough Airbus model. Next it's the on again, off again flights.
So after at least three reschedulings of all arrangements for a trip two years in a row and keeping the Delta tickets in limbo for the second year, I dumped the whole trip. Was able to get the ticket money back from Delta- but some other deposit/ticket money is gone that I will forever hold Delta responsible for.
I could have pursued the Qatar alternate or delayed/rescheduled again! But it was time to cut the losses. This latest Delta cancellation to at some unknown time after June 1 would have forced my trip dates at least two months beyond original plan anyway- a no go... hah! Right now I'm so glad I pulled the plug three weeks ago.
Europe is open to Covid weary and stuck foreign travelers?Rome detour for a few days ? I go there first to see family anyway.
I'm booked for the middle of August. Hopefully Not OctNot the news I wanted to hear, but thanks for the heads up. Hopefully Delta has the flight up and running come Oct or it will be another Africa-less year for us again.
