I will be flying JFK to Lusaka, Zambia with Ethiopian Airlines in Business Class, so I would like to hear from anyone here who has done so and what you thought of it.

Looking at photos, it doesn't look as luxurious as some of the other's Bus Class, but tickets were much cheaper.

I'm not as concerned about the food as I am about being able to sleep flat and have some privacy

What do you all say?

Haven’t done the Lusaka route.. but I’ve flown Ethiopian quite a bit to Kenya from the US and a few other places..

Business class is decent… I’d put it on par with most US carriers…

It falls way short of what you’d get on a Qatar, Emeriates , Cathay Pacific, etc flight…

Maybe slightly less than what you should expect from most European carriers like Lufthansa, BA, Air France, etc in my opinion..

I flew Ethiopian Business class in 21. Flew from Chicago/Addis Ababa/Beira. i thought it was very nice. Checkin at Chicago (with firearm) was smoother than most domestic airlines. The lay flat seating was very comfortable. From what I remember food was just average. Service was much better than any domestic airline I’ve flown recently. Friendly attendants vs combative on my most recent domestic flights.

How would you compare it ro Delta Business Class?

I can’t directly compare to delta since I haven flown business on delta in many years…

But… The Points Guy rates Ethiopian slightly lower than American business class overall if that’s a helpful comparison…

This is largely because of the lounge and facilities in Addis though… he actually speaks highly of Ethiopian overall in a couple of different reviews…

I agree with his assessment overall.. on par with US carriers in terms of comfort in the cabin, food, service, etc…

You’re not going to get top tier service like Qatar…

But it’s going to be better than an international flight on something like Egypt Air or Aero Mexico…

Sounds good, since my main concern is to be able to lay down flat for the flight and sleep

PS the tickets for Qatar we're almost double than that of Ethiopian

I have flown it twice, latest being in 2021. It is pretty good, and you can't flat. They updated the lounge in Addis and it is pretty decent. It is way better than coach but as others have said not as luxurious as other international airlines.

Are you saying that you couldn't lie flat?

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
