If yes, I was wondering if someone could run a load for me and tell me what quickload says would be the velocity?
The load I want to estimate:
55 Grains IMR4198
Federal 215 Primer
450gr Woodleigh .510" SoftPoint jacketed bullet
.500 Express 3" brass cut back to 2.800"
26" barrel
What would that result in?
Load data from "Shooting the British Double Rifle" says of a slightly different load:
57 Grains IMR4198 (***2 grains more powder than the load above)
Federal 215 Primer
440gr Woodleigh .510" Softpoint jacketed bullet (***440gr, not 450gr)
.500 Express 3" brass (***NOT cut back to 2.800")
28" barrel (***NOT a shorter 26" barrel)
=1910FPS @ 8.8TPSI
Many thanks if anyone has the estimation software to figure out what I can expect from the load. I know it regulates from my gun and I believe it is well within safe operating pressures, I just don't have any idea what the variables are going to do with the velocity.
