Time has been on the short end when looking at my "to do list" lately.
I have so many plans & want for DG & PG hunts, the invites come knocking more often at never to be repeated offers, its almost sickening! Not that I'm complaining about the opportunities, but rather the ever rushing deadlines & meetings bestowed upon us normal working to survive class people.
a 10 day hunt is out of the question, heck even 5 days without a laptop or phone is pushing it! Nothing ever fits into my schedule.

But... the year is on its head, 2018 is upon us & time for a new strategy. What better way to effect the changes than to acquire a new tool to ease the task at hand? (thanks to my lovely wife that put the the plan into alignment)

Behold my new pride & Joy!
My first ever DR & the beginning of a new learning curve.

Fire away with suggestions & opinions.

Beautiful rifle, great caliber. A rifle like this needs to go on a 14 or 21 day safari! Enjoy the new learning curve with lots of shooting at the range. Look forward to updates.

Beautiful rifle sir. Congratations on joining the double rifle club. Wishing you many safe journeys, and may your bullets fly where your sights lie.

Take Care,
Marius Goosen

Thank you kind gents!

Now for that long wait on licencing..

Beautiful rifle and yes, it demands at least 14 days of hard, heart pounding hunting. Good luck with it! (y)

Very nice!! Now to plan that hunt(y)

Licensing? Where are you located? How long does it take?

Nice Rifle!!

Looks like Safari Outdoor here in South Africa.

Congratulation @Jaws, I'm now new to the DR world having just purchased a Searcy. I'm not new to visiting the VC booth at the DSC and SCI conventions. For whatever a novice's opinion is worth, I love the VCs!

Before I retired (a hugely underrated condition:A Banana:), I was a VP in a major defense corporation. I was on essentially 24/7. So, for my first hunt in Africa ten years ago, I rented a satellite dish, brought my computer and a satellite phone and stayed up with the business evenings for the ten-days my son and I were there. Not the best way to enjoy Africa, but one does what one has to do to pull it off. You can do it all through a sat phone now. There are "remote" DG areas like the Caprivi that have almost total cell coverage (not so much in Mozambique). And congrats. When VC wants to make a classic looking double, they can turn out a beautiful one.

A novice myself to be honest. it was quite an impulse buy.
We actually went to the shop to buy a new holster for my pistol, the wife was looking at the doubles on display & casually persuaded me to have a closer look at that "nice one" a few words such as, "you always talk about one" "I think you should buy it" sealed the deal! fortunately the chosen gun was in the correct caliber!

Originally I was contemplating a 404 Jefferey as an "upgrade" from the .375, and before I knew it, I have a Double on the way.

Might just want to hold on to that lady!

Great looking rifle! Congrats

Welcome to the double rifle club! Nice rifle and great caliberVC makes a nice double.

Exactly as you say...not the way to do a a decent hunting trip, but will see what transpires next year. I still have at least another 30 years before I can retire, and has to make the best of my "youth" whilst I can.
I think a tuskless / PAC elle hunt in the new year is exactly what my doctor would order.

Dittos on hanging on to that gal. Its' a pity they aren't all like that!!
She is indeed a one of a kind, & thank you for the generous words.
the wife was a city girl, studied fashion designing & had no idea of the outdoors, hunting or guns for that matter till we got married. a Few years ago we bought & moved to a small farm. Without a clue she dove right in & made it happen.
She manage the cattle, sheep & the little bits of game we have in all aspects, even dispatch the stray dog or vermin now and again. SA is a dangerous place especially on a farm these days, so she quickly learnt to pick up a fire arm & can hold her own against some of the toughest cowboys.

Understandably I din't argue when she ordered me to buy! :D:ROFLMAO:

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
