Looking for rifles, pistols and shotguns that were made in 1956. I am not really a collector but a hunter and shooter who is looking to convert my hunting battery over to firearms made in the year of my birth. Particularly looking for big game rifles suitable for hunting in Africa as well as Winchesters Model 70, Model 71, Model 94, Model 64, as well as BRNO ZG-47, Savage 99s and would consider any other firearms (rimfires, centrefires, handguns and shotguns) - just so long as they are from 1956. I have an export agent, in the USA, to facilitate shipping to my home and would look for the same in Europe or Africa, should suitable firearms come up in those areas.

I have been building a listing of serial numbers, codes, etc, that indicate if a firearm was made in 1956, so if you have something for sale, that you think might be from 1956, I can probably verify it is or not.

Interesting project to get them from the year of your birth. Best of luck to you sir. I have a 1956 Browning semi auto shotgun with Belgium made barrel but it's not fir sale. It was a gift from my father when I turned 14. Love that gun.

Very interesting project BwanaBob! I do something Similar I grew up in a large family so dad could never afford the Brand name guns so I cute my eyeteeth on a J C Higgins I loved the way they shoot and later on I learn that they were built on contract by brand name guns such as Browning, FN and others so I started my collection and now have a gun Safe full of these contract guns my favorite is the 270 model 50 built by FN. Good luck on yours.

So far I have acquired a pristine BRNO Model 2 (.22LR), from 1956, that looks like it has just come out of the factory and a 1956 Model 1 BRNO that has seen some use and needs to be restored but is still perfectly serviceable.

I am also looking at a nice Pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight in .30/06, from 1956, and a pre-64 Winchester M1894 in .32 Special, and hope to add those to my collection, very shortly.

I also waited too long on a 1956 ZG47, in 9.3x62, and someone else bought it - I kick myself every night over missing that one!
