Good day to all members. I really would like information regarding fishing in Angola, especially rock /surf fishing? Any contact details / references will be more than welcome.(y)(y)(y)

@Gert Odendaal I am going to Luanda on business this coming week. I do know some expats there that fish, but it's blue water marlin fishing. If anyone has any good leads, I will pass them onto you.

I found this link after a quick search: http://www.seaace.com.na/angola.htm

375Ruger Fan, it is much appreciated..we would be at least six 4x4 vehicles, three anglers in a vehicle. We want to do rock/surf fishing using lures and bait. Camping will be our first choice since we will be on the move...but we are really in need of a person who knows these shores and fishing waters... like a guide/participant angler who will share his knowledge with the participants.
It would really be much appreciated if you can discuss our endeavour with the local guides when you visit for your business trip....thank you again , it is much appreciated...(y)(y)(y)(y) I need to point out that this will be a social angling tour by anglers who have never fish the Angola waters, although the participants do know the basics of rock /surf fishing with lures and live baits...it will be a catch /release fishing trip..some of the fish will be for consumption/table fair...(y) This endeavour is planned for 2020..two years from now..but I need to get the organising/ procedures /planning sorted out . We already sorted out the route..we will be departing from Pretoria and plan to do a circle route up/through Angola.
I really would like as much info /contact details as possible...

Gert,

While I was in Luanda, Angola, I asked a couple folks and they are checking a few leads. One guy reported back to me this weekend that two outfitters/agencies have been identified. My friend is checking into them to see if they are legal and have all what the required permits, licenses, etc. Will report back to you when I hear from him.

Dave

Dave, thank you kindly for the feedback it is much appreciated. It will be good to have as much information in this regards as possible, it will make my planning so much easier and ensure fewer logistical difficulties.(y)(y)(y)(y)

I know I am a bit late here but check out Shawn Mey from GO Fish Mosselbay Ninjas Extreme Rock and surf Angling Adventures. I have not fished with him but I follow him on Facebook. He specialises in shore and surf fishing in South Africa and takes numerous trips to Angola a year.

This is third hand information so take it for what it's worth, i.e. verify it.
When I was in RSA in May, I was told by a guy who had been to the lodge on the Kwanza river that all fishing has been shut down from the ocean back up the river a certain distance. He said it was being overfished. People were turning it in to a commercial fishery. As a result of this, I stopped planning for a trip to that lodge. I wanted to do some surf fishing at the mouth of the river.

the kwanza mouth was tarpon speciality area... years back when I worked in Angola. I also heard they had shutdown permits etc??

Thank you members for this info, our planning is focused on driving up from SA, through Botswana to Angola Highlands , down to the coastal regions and all along the coast , camping and fishing coming back through Namibia to SA..I am sure we will still make changes to the initial plan..drive /camp/fish all along the Angola coast..we will not stay in one lodge or camp along the way...thank you for the feedback up to date , it is much appreciated..we will be about four/six off-road vechicles with a trailer each...(y)(y)

We will keep it in mind, although we will stay on the main roads...if we do get some mines, do you want me to bring some back for your own collection???:LOL::LOL:

It is still possible to find some landmines in Angola, while in South Africa you will not find any land mines , the locals collect metal for crap metal money...even a land mine does not stand a chance here ...:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Did you go in the end Gert? How was it?

Hope you enjoyed Angola!
Ozmandias, no I did not go earlier, this will happen when I am retiring four year from now, that is why I am sourcing information in regards to self driving /fishing holiday for myself and my son Ruan..maybe a friend or two who wants to do the same type of tour...Frik Olivier, a friend of mine did the fishing safari with a guide from Mosselbaai in the Cape..he enjoyed it very much...although he mentioned it would have been better if your own friends join in on such a safari...(y)(y)(y)
