All, as posted in the hunts wanted forum, I have made a deal for 2025 CB and PG in SA. Flying from the west coast, my best route to use my points to upgrade to business class in Swiss Air. The route would be LAX/Zurich/Joberg. Does anyone have any advice or intel about going through Zurich with a rifle? I presume it is simple enough but wanted to make sure I was not buying into a headache to save a couple of hours or dollars. Thanks in advance.

I have laid over in Zurich several times. I always book with Air Canada which is partnered through Star Alliance with both Swiss Air and Lufthansa. That way I check the guns here at my local airport and never see them again till I get to Joberg. I'm not sure what would be involved if you change airlines at Zurich and have to recheck your guncase. Swiss are extremely gun friendly. Swiss Air's gun handling fee is the cheapest. I like the Zurich Airport. Very efficient and just seems to be a friendly atmosphere. Are you flying all the way with Swiss Air?

I traveled through Zurich last December with a firearm. My luggage was checked through from Prague. There were no issues, no grief. All arrived safely at the far end.

Have flown via Zurich several times when checking in my gun in Copenhagen. Never had any problems.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
