Here is a pic of it.I think he set it up in a press and the hole through the cylinder steps down.I've never thought to try it as Hawk bullets has proper bullets for the rifle should I decide to use it.

thank you

Not judging, but for me I couldn’t own a firearm and not shoot it. For me, I even have to hunt with it. Even if it’s only mice. I guess that means, I am a hunter.

One also have to see some things from the perspective of a collector. I am also primarily a hunter, but I also have fun, in addition to what I really need for hunting, to own a few older classic hunting rifles.

As far as a rifle caliber 11,2x72 Schüler is concerned, normally no hunter who thinks practically would buy nowadays an old rifle of this caliber as his first big game rifle. Same with me, I had what I needed for hunting big game in my gun-safe, but I had read a lot about the cartridge 11,2x72 Schüler and when a cheap offer for an original rifle from Schüler of this caliber came up, I bought it. Sure, as a hunter I also wanted to shoot something with it and did so in the following months on a buffalo hunt in Africa. Nevertheless, there are also a few old double rifles in my gun-safe, rifles that I don't needed but bought and for that I have none yet found a practical use for big game hunting nowadays.

Beautiful rifle in the German classic biggame caliber. Recoil is on par with .416Rigby. Build as "eine schlank pirschbüchsen stutzen" my guess is as good as anybody that recoil will create some anxieties(angst)...:LOL

The case dimensions are very close and you can resize the 404 in the 11.2x72 dies and a short trim. That's the easy part.

Now you have to chuck the 404 case in a lathe and turn the case rim down to the rebated rim size of the 11.2, then have to cut a new extractor groove to match the correct one in the 11.2. So until they get a run of the correct brass into suppliers you at least should be able to make some. Since the Ultra mag cases also use a 404 as the parent case in theory you should also be able to make brass from them.

Bullets you can find Hawk, woodleighs or cast bullets. There might be a few others out there. can also swage 45cal down.
Looks like Bertram Brass has it.

For those interested in this caliber, Here is a link to my post last year about one of my rifles in 11.2 Schuler caliber.

The rifle now has a new home in Wisconsin. A big shout-out thank you to wvfred for offering such a wonderful European Big Game rifle. This is my 3rd rifle in this interesting caliber. A field test post will follow on the " .375 & up" Forum.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
