Nice rifle, I just got mine in from the CMP last month. A Service grade as well, but at least you got an original stock. Mine came with a new CMP stock.
You shouldn't have any problem finding a buyer. The first day I took mine to the range, I had three offers on it, the lowest was $900 and the other two were for a $1000. Since I had just paid $750 and it is my first one to own, I turned them down. But it's nice to know it is worth more than I paid for it.

I got 3 of them. The one Im keeping has a new CMP stock on as well. Normally that would be a deal breaker for me but aside from the stock, its pretty much all 1942 SA, even the barrel with 2/0+ readings . The receiver has a lot of it original finish left as well.

I have 12 Garands in my collection, one of which has a period correct stock, the ret of that gun is a mix master so it will donate to the cause of getting my 1942 to its former glory.

Mine receiver is a 1953 SA, the rest of the parts are SA made in 42 & 43 according to my expert in all things M1. The barrel is a Win made in 43.
It is my first one and not for sale...but I hope to add more to my collection, just not today..

Its a slippery slope for sure. Once you get enough of them, you can start to move parts around a bit and get them closer to "original" as you can. My first one is still my favorite and gets shot every month.

So glad I didn't see this until after the SPF post.

I love that stock on yours. Very nice looking M1. I'm sure tempted to buy it from you but my wife might not agree to that. :giggle:
I can try to sell it for you. I'm a member of a local gun club, I can pass the word. If anyone is interested I'll have them contact you. We have several members that love these M1 rifles.

There is just something about an M1....

post 5, SPF. That means sold.

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?

HI all, here is a Short update on our America trip, I currently in Houston and have 2 more meetings here before movings North toward Oklahoma, Missouri and Iowa, and from there I will head to Colorado and Idaho,I have been met with great hospitality and friendship, and have met several new and old clients and we are going to book the rest of 2025 season quick and have several dates booked for 2026!
That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
