Does anyone know much about these new chrono’s? Now that dealers are selling pre-orders,
I’m seeing a bunch of Labdars for sale.

Anyone?

Labradars are on a fire sale at other sites. The form factor and ease of use for this one seem to be the drawing card. Initial supply is already out there and being used.

There are people on 2 other forums that I read with them in hand. AH will delete posts with links to other forums or I'd refer you to one. Delivery is happening now. I have one on order. What I'm reading is that they are easy to use, are compact in size and accurate. Also, good battery life. For the most part they seem to be well liked so far. Perhaps a google search would pull up some actual experiences with them. Lab Radar has some serious competition finally.

I guess how effective are they, and would you choose it over a Labradar?

It seems like a lot of people are changing teams

They are very effective in my experience with the unit I have. I have used it on pellet rifles, suppressed 22lr, suppressed 22 pistol. I tested it against my Magnetospeed V3. It was hanging with it. So I believe accuracy is their.

I have had a LabRadar for a long time, the housing cracked. I did not want the hassle of sending it back so I purchased a new one (kept the old one for a backup). On a home range a Labradar works great. When you are shooting it around a bunch of people it will get some false reading (think public range).

The Garmin Xero attracted me for the size and the lack of setting a trigger. It will not read speed at 100 yards like the LR. It is more simple in that regard. I have been very happy with my Magnetospeed speed in a Gray Ops mount attaches to my rifle to pick up shots when I'm shooting different positions. I just had to fight the cords. The Garmin eliminated that.

Garmin Xero

It is smaller
Simple to operate
Can be ran on or off the gun
Not triggered by others on the line
Only reads MV can't go past that

Labradar

Leader in the industry
Is an accurate system
Larger footprint
Reads to 100 yards
Not good on a firing line with multiple people

Magnetospeed

Accurate
Simple to operate
Only reads the gun it's on
Unless you spend several hundred dollars on a mounting system it attaches to you barrel.
Have to deal with wires

I have a magnetospeed, but it still looks like the Labradar is the way to go. Maybe I’ll take advantage of people switching brands.

No reason not to, the LabRadar technology has not changed. If you want to save the money and are not worried about the newest toy. It will serve you well.

Well I bought a Labradar.

Labradar has had some negative PR. Short battery life to start with. Some folks have had a lot of trouble getting them to trigger. Lots bigger footprint to haul one around. Best of luck on yours.

My range is now out my back door, so the transport isn’t an issue. Apparently you can get a plug in battery pack, we will see how it lasts.

Battery life is the only thing that I don’t like about my LabRadar

I have only used AA’s

I have a Garmin on order and will get it in about a month. Looks like it will be very convenient.

I also ordered the garmin-thank you all for the heads up as I had not heard about it yet. My old chrony never was very good and the YouTube videos about the garmin were very convincing-price was a bit of a shock!

Shock as in cheap or expensive?

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
