I've just purchased my first DG rifle, a Whitworth Mark X .375 H&H, very exciting!
I'm now in the process of replacing the current mounts and scope for something a bit nicer. My first choice is the EAW swing off from NECG however Mark tells me I can no longer get the "Ghost Ring" rear sight that is used in conjunction with the rear mount. That's unfortunate because it seems to me the absolute best of both worlds.

Does anyone know of a QD mount system suitable for .375 style recoil that also has available a rear diopter or "Ghost Ring" type rear sight?

Talley makes them. Also I think EAW makes a picattinny/weaver ghost rings

also, Brockmans used to make a pop-up peep that hangs off the back of a modified Talley base. Not sure if he still does.

Weaver makes an island mounted ghost ring. I have one on my .375.

Check out XS Sight Systems, (of Fort Worth TX, available from Brownell's), for a Weaver low profile back-up rear peep, for Weaver mounts. I have bought XS products in the past and am pleased with the engineering and quality,

NECG make peeps with ghost ring for Brno/CZ, Weaver and at least one type of Ruger base.

Yes theNECG ghost ring is quite nice and very functional. Use one on a Brno and another on a CZ. Have the largest aperture NECG supplies.

Thanks to all for the help
I went with Tally QD and their rear base peep to mount a Zeiss Conquest V6 1-6

I have that setup on one of my 7x57’s. It works well. My only concern is a safe place to keep the sight when it is not on the rifle.

Yes, I've been thinking about that also

A trap in the butt? Grip cap?

A pouch attached to your rifle sling OR a pouch in your hunting first aid kit. If you cannot remember your hunting first aid kit ... you should stick to walking in the local Botanic Gardens:giggle:!

I’m wondering if you’re after a peep/ ghost ring as a “ backup “ for your scope. Or, if you just like the option of having a peep sight… just because you like using them. What ever the reason….it’s a need that needs scratching.
I have been down both the options that I mentioned plus that old faithful opinion of “just because I want to “.
Anyway. From my experiences, often expensive and not always satisfactory, I reckon this.
If just after a backup sight. Buy a 2nd scope, ideally identical to the primary scope and with identical quality QD’s, for the rifle. Sight her in and leave it in camp. In the rare event of you needing it…she’s there and sighted in.
Or , just buy a redpot like the Aimpoint H2. Reliable, tiny and light. Ideal if you have limited space and weight restrictions.
If, you’re getting a peep because you really like using them. Then get the best on offer and I guess I should also add that from my experiences…setting up a peep mounted on the receiver can test your patience if you have a rifle that doesn’t have a squared receiver face. I had a Winchester M70 that was a bitch.

good luck with your project.

i have designed a grip trap cap that will accommodate a Talley. It’s very unique and has other cool features as well. Rigby thought it was too complicated to make, Westley Richards thought it was too “modern”…so I think I might just make them myself. We’ll see what 2023 brings…

I’d like to see it when you have it done!
