Hello all and Happy New Year!

I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum and will happily move this if it is. That being said I have a bit of a question. I have my first Africa trip coming up this year (Huzza!) and one of the animals I am considering is a Giraffe. If I managed to bag one of these beauties I was wondering about the feasibility of getting a giraffe leg bone cane made? I've got a knee injury (reconstructed) from an accident a few years ago and the long and short of it is that when I'm older I'm pretty much going to need a cane and I thought this might be a great opportunity to get a unique one (the one the V.A. issued one is nice but rather bland heh) Any input into this would be appreciated, thank you all for your time!

Giraffe bone is quite heavy so I don't think it would serve you well.

I've seen a warthog tusk top/handle on a wood cane. I'm sure you could have a bone accent for a few inches near the top of the cane. You could cover a portion of the stem with hide.

Just giving you some options I've seen.

You know, I didn't even consider the density of the bone so thank you for the heads up! Hmm, I see what you mean there. Well it's still an idea in my head, maybe hollow with resin or some such. Anyway, again, thank you for your input!

Upper portion could absolutely be affixed to a cane. Guys over in Africa can carve most anything into the bone.

Oh wow, that is beautiful! I think that I've got an idea of what I want now, thank you for this picture! Just have to hope that whatever taxidermist I go with can do something so great looking.

Safari Taxidermy in Polokwane had some really nice carved and scrimshawed examples with copper or brass covers on the ends I saw last summer while I was placing my order in their facility.
I don't see examples on their website though.

You will find all kind of beautiful canes in SA.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
