You want geese? Where I live in Manitoba they come through by the tens of thousands. Canada's, Snow's, Blue's, Ross', White Fronted. I won't even mention the ducks. :)

Sky,
One goose story just because it is a slow morning. Where I grew up on the Ohio River the man that shot a Snow goose had bragging rights for the rest of the year, we may see one or two in a season. Twenty years later…
I invited my father down for a hunt when I was living in Louisiana. We sat the rice fields for two mornings taking duck limits and having the time of our life. This was the first year of the management hunts for snows in LA, they extended the season and took away all restrictions. Our outfitter was waiting for the opening of the extended season. On the third day we drove past the rice fields for a levee. As the sun began to rise you could feel rather than hear the geese in the distance. My pop sat there dumbfounded trying to figure out what it was he was seeing. The horizon was moving from front right to front left in a strange waver. Within five minutes we were completely covered with tens of thousands of snows. I think it was the first time I ever knew the old man to freeze up. He just sat there staring into that endless cloud of geese. I finally yelled to him, just pick one out and start shooting. He shot snows that day till he was out of shells. It was absolutely hilarious to see the look on his face. All of his life he’d read about those massive flocks of birds but had never seen one. I actually got a picture of him sitting there with shotgun held at a half mount, not sure if he should shoot or duck. It was truly a priceless moment.

Welcome to AH peer-ole frederiksen you will enjoy the site and you will have to tell us a little about Denmark. Bob

Macs,

Great story. When they are moving through here, heading your way, it is just incredible to see. They upped the possession limits here this past year. There are so few bird hunters now, compared to 25 years ago and the goose populations are staggering. Figures. :)

Anyways, we are not trying to steal your thread peer-ole frederiksen. Welcome to AH.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
