Got to open my birthday present a day late

They got here! 2 years and 4 days after our hunt started. Stuff looks really good.
This is my first crate and I am so happy I’ve got my hands on this stuff again.

Kuche taxidermy. Owned by the outfitter. Work looks really good. Only issue is the Kudus mane disappeared into the stitching. Every thing else I’m happy with.

Thanks. Just measured him-and I’ve never done it before- 51.5”/52.5”. PH thought he would be 53 - 54 when I got him 2 years ago so I don’t know what one shrinks??
To me he has a beautiful shape but I knew his curls weren’t deep enough to hit the high 50s but he is exactly what I wanted.

Love to hear that, as long as you are happy with the animal, he has the shape you want, the character you saw in your dreams, be damned what the tape measure says. It is a true trophy at that point! Congratulations

I’ve seen kudu shrink up to 2”s and they will continue to shrink 10, 20 yrs down the road. I always take very good measurements of all my animals when fresh and rebuild as much of the shrunken part as possible within reason.

Doesn't happen unless it's cut off or something else amiss Your kudu mane was 3 inches long and ran the entire length of his neck and over his shoulder. I remember your kudu. Actually I’ve got two boys that are both already making animal lists. And baby sister wants a lion. I’m looking for a 2nd job or a rich relative.

Yes sir, his mane was beautiful and thick. Looks like he was split right down the center of the neck in the mane (same location as a whitetail) and stitched up right on the line. Almost all the mane is gone now. Did my buddy’s the same way. The Blue Wildebeest was cut about an inch off the mane and is perfectly preserved. It’s upsetting that his mane is gone but I’m hanging him in a position that the form will hide it.
