Hello all,
I have a previously sporterized 1903 that I’m doing a build with, and I was planning to have blank talleys fitted but I just noticed that with the previous drill and tap the front holes are not aligned with the back holes. If this proves to be an issue, I’m considering all my options. I’m not opposed to holding on to these Talleys, I have plans for future rifles, but I am opposed to redrilling and tapping and making the top of my ‘03 look like Swiss cheese. That got me thinking, the G&H side mounts aren’t cheap, but also for just the parts they are not astronomically higher than the talleys. The instillation if I had G&H put them on, however, is astronomical. $635 to install a scope mount? From what I can tell it’s 3 screws and 2 pins. Has anybody with these mounts price compared or ballparked their local gunsmiths doing the job vs G&H? The installation is twice the cost of the mount and rings combined.
