I am concerned about what happens if Delta loses my new $10,000 double rifle. Can I get insurance in case they lose it or it’s stolen?
SCI offers firearms insurance. Of course there are many options.I am concerned about what happens if Delta loses my new $10,000 double rifle. Can I get insurance in case they lose it or it’s stolen?
In my case appraisals were only required if I went over $10K. Serial numbers were not required to be disclosed, just a description and an appraised amount IIRC. I opted to stop at the $10K because I don't have $10K worth of firearms out in the field at any time. One issue I had with extending the homeowner's policy was that it not only was more costly, but required me to get everything appraised. Invoices were not sufficient. I told them to jump in a lake and went with collector's insurance. It required appraisals only for firearms that had a value greater than 25K individually.
Interesting. I wonder what sort of appraiser the insurance company would accept. What if I hypothetically found an "appraiser" that valued my Marlin Glenfield model 60 .22 rifle for $5000.00? I'm now just curious enough that I'll send my insurer an email.Had a friend that lost 2 rifles coming back from mozambique. The airline gave him $300 . His home owner policy covered his guns so they paid him another $800. But here's the deal. His insurance agent told him he had to go by his insurance book rates for deprecation Told him if he would of had them appraised before his trip they would have had to pay appraised value. Something to check on with your insurance company before you go. Cause $ 1100.00 dosent come close to paying for 2 CZ rifles topped with leoupold scopes.
Did you sign and do paper work with NRA? Had a friend that tried to collect , but they said you cant just be a member you have to do all the paper work and sign up for it.I have the NRA initial $2500 insurance and separate gun insurance of $10,500 with Lockton Affinity out of Kansas City which more than covers any and all my traveling (when I use to travel).
Never had to collect.
Its been a long time. Had to make a couple of calls. The $2500 ended in 2018. If you were a member before then, you still have it...assuming you are still a current member. It is currently administered through Lockton Affinity. There is currently nothing on the NRA website about the $2500. If I ever have a claim, I contact straight to Lockton Affinity. I had a couple of other questions for the young agent I was talking to. He is suppose to get back to me.Did you sign and do paper work with NRA?
