Recently Married. My wife has put only one restriction on my hunting in Africa, she has to go with me and has to also come home with some trophy. I'm still trying to learn and plan our first Safari. Any tips are very welcome.

Yes, purchase 2 airline tickets (or drive) to Dallas for the DSC show (January 7, 8, 9, 10, 2016) talk to several outfitters, get price lists from every African outfitter and then decide where and what you want to shoot. After that, make a Excel "spend" sheet and decide what fit your budget and time.

Welcome to AH Kaemen Chiles! The best thing was to find our community… nice to have you with us! Did you decide on your African country?

welcome to the site. read lots of threads, ask lots of questions, look at pictures of African animals and see what interests you, then find where they are plentiful. plan, plan, and dream some more. Then decide, plan, plan, and anticipate until you leave. Enjoy your first trip (notice I said first) and tell us all about it when you get back. Then decide where and how you will taxidermy, and show us pictures. Oh yes, I forgot to tell you to get into lengthy debate over which caliber and which gun to use. Did I forget anything? Oh yeah, have fun and welcome again.

Welcome to AH! I second the motion to come up to Dallas for the DSC show. And you could also join us for the annual AH dinner on Saturday evening. Great wife to have there too! Expensive perhaps, but well worth it.

Welcome Kaemen,

You've joined a great group here. Highly knowledgeable and always ready to help. Your off to a good start, I took my then girlfriend, now my wife of 27 years to Zimbabwe in '86. Safaris are best shared with those you love.

I reside in San Antonio and am always ready to talk hunting!

Howdy!

I third the motion. Hope to see you there!

Thank you to all. Unfortunately we will be out of country during the time of the DSC show or we would gladly make the drive/flight up to go the event sounds fantastic. I haven't decided on a country, but I really like the thought of Kudu to start with. I've spent years hunting elk in Colorado (my wife and mines native land) and I believe Kudu could be a comparative challenge for body size and difficulty to bring down. I would have no idea for sure, but the thought seems very exciting. I'm certainly open to any ideas that people have for a first hunt to any country in Africa.

Start reading hunt reports, the safari planning guide and look at the deals section.
You'll get the terminology down and then you'll be set to make decisions.

Welcome to AH.

Welcome to AH, there are lot of great outfitters on AH, check prices, size of property and expectations of what you want to accomplish in Africa.

Welcome and good luck with your first African hunt planning

Yep, I have 4 tips.

1.Always say "Yes dear".
2.Always hold the door open for her.
3. Always seat her at the dinner table.
4. Always take her to Africa.

These will get you to many trips to Africa.:A Thumbs Up:

Reza Call me any time you want to talk about Elephant. hunting and CMS.
I've hunted two Elephant with CMS.
In 13 African safari's and an equal number of North American hunts, BUZZ is the best guide I have ever hunted with.
