I'm really considering this mount if I'm successful on my hippo hunt this year. Just not really in the budget......
Ya Charlie I really want that mount. Normally I expidte my taxidermy for a 3 month completion and pay the extra fee. I'll probably do that on the other trophies and just wait the year for this mount. I think it will be worth it. It's just so different and cool. If I do this I'll probably not hunt in 2018 and focus on 2019.Wow, thats incredible! That would be a cool one to have, just would have to space out the taxidermy a while after the hunt, which is what I will have to be doing for my last two trips to SA.
That is cool mount! I have no where to display something like that. But really cool!

@Royal27 I think I could sneak the table into my trophy room but the 1/2 Hippo mount I don't think I am sneaking that in anywhere lol
Very true!
My wife actually likes the skull. She is really pretty good with most of the taxidermy, except the Buffalo. She says it look good in Africa and should have stayed there.
Spoke with my taxidermist last night , if we do a reproduction of the hippo and use his original teeth I can save 2k. Still a lot of money hell can book a hunt for next year on just the cost of the repro mount....Thoughts on a reproduction mount anyone?
@CAustin , who's the owner of HIGHVELD? Hendrik?
I agree here. The look and feel of airbrushed fiberglass just wouldn't be right for me. I know there are artists that can do amazing work, but I think you'd still see the difference. To me it is just not the same. a mount is the hide with the horns or teeth of the animal. It should be as much of the animal as can be used I think but each there own when it comes to taxidermy. Some airbrushed fiberglass is just not the same.
