At a bargain price so far. Going to go up a lot that last bit of the auction I'm sure;)

Very nice rifle.

Regulated with a 470gr bullet !!? I don't know !

On the barrels you can read "Cordite 90 750 MAX ". That's one of the normal regulation of this kind of rifles , like my old DR 577NE from Webley & Scott , unfortunately not comparable in terms of aesthetics.

I'd tend to trust what is stamped on the flats (even though it's merely for proof purposes). To my knowledge there was never a 470 grain bullet available for the bore (there was a 570 grain bullet loaded in the black powder version, but nothing as light at 470 grains). That H&H would have such a drastic typo in the letter is hard to believe. The only thing which may suggest 470 grains is that it went to India (and the fact that H&H will do whatever the client desires).

When this one goes live I expect the price to rise like a rocket leaving the launch pad (or, I'd be interested in seeing if it winds up on a site like Lewis Drake & Associates, should it go for something on the low end of the spectrum).

The marks from the London proof house on this rifle are not indicative for a regulation with 470gr bullet. But these are effectively only proof marks for a maximum load. If H&H after that regulated the rifle with a 470gr bullet and if that was possible without a new proof test , i don't know and rather i don't think so. Will remain a mystery.

I discussed the rifle with the gentleman putting on the auction (not because I intended to bid - there are a couple of other things that have caught our eye), but told him, that rifle should, with any reasonable internet interest, push 50K. With 45 mins until first gavel it is sitting with a 53K bid.

That's just a new truck right now. The truck will decrease in value. I am not in the market for a new truck.

I see... well I sure wish I had the $50,000+ this gun is supposed to be worth. I'd go hunting!

Did this rifle go for $53K? If so, it was one helluva bargain. If I just didn't have a half dozen of them lying around already...........FWB
