Some parts of South Africa, especially the North West province where we are located are experiencing very dry and hot conditions. With the first decent rains predicted for Feb 2016, these scenes are unfortunately going to be more common than what we would like. Thankfully the latest fire was brought under control and damage was minimal.

Water restrictions are being introduced in certain areas.

Man I'm sorry that sux. Our drought lasted 10 years so I can empathize.

You guys up North are having a hard time. Hoping the drought breaks soon. Heard a lot of the farmers are struggling. Such a stark contrast of the extremely wet conditions down here in EC.
Fingers crossed for rain!

Thanks Gizmo, hopefully things improve soon as I cant imagine 10 years of drought!

Thanks Jono!

Hope some of the rains come sooner than February Justin.

Bad news Justin, hope you do get some rain soon.

Hope you get some good rain soon.

I have heard that El Niño causes some serious lack of precipitation in parts of southern Africa. It seems odd that something 1/2 a world away can affect another area in such a way. I say this presuming the scientists know what they are talking about. I certainly don't.

Hope you get the much needed rain

I see Mpumalanga was just declared a drought disaster.
Not a good sign.

have things improved at all?

We have had some rain since the original post but not nearly enough and with 40 degree weather, any moisture quickly evaporates.

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
